About Me

Classical guitarist and multi instrumentalist Riad Abji can lay claim to a wide and varied experience in music making and recording, in both his collaborations and solo projects. Starting out working on ambient/acoustic projects, writing and recording with Paul Frankland in Woob (Emit) bringing the live element to electro-organic tapestries, developing over a long period into co-writing in Journeyman (n-tone), and Max and Harvey (Ninja Tune).Recently embarking on more acoustic journeys with the Grammy award winning Amrit Sond (Solid Air), Riad is also recording, performing and writing in this exciting new adventure, on Spanish guitar and double bass.Working in numerous bands as a gigging bassist, most recently as part of Switcher, Riad loves nothing better than getting the funk across, on electric bass, with an insatiable sense of groove!Studying African percussion in Ghana, and a love of Indian melody and other world musics, have lead to his individual style which he brings to all his playing, drawing from a rich variety of experience.
