Sally Braybrooks

Sally Braybrooks has recently graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) with a double degree in Music Education and Music Performance. Sally has been priviledged to work with many wonderful teachers including Dr. Kevin J. Gorman, Dr. Joseph Wytko, Dr. Eugene Rousseau, and Christina Leonard. Sally has given solo recitals in both the United States and Australia, and in March 2007 was guest soloist with the UNLV Wind Orchestra, performing Bernard Heiden’s "Diversion". In January 2007 Sally was awarded second place in the Reno Chamber Orchestra’s College Concerto Competition and in 2004 was the winner of the James K. Hunzinger Concerto Competition at UNLV.
While at UNLV Sally also excelled in her academic pursuits winning the 2007 Nevada Centennial Medallion, a coveted award presented to the graduating senior of UNLV with the highest overall GPA. In 2004, Sally won the UNLV music department’s major academic prize, the Theodore Presser Award, with a perfect Grade Point Average of 4.0.
While pursing her love of saxophone, Sally has also followed her passion for conducting and has been a private student of Professor Thomas G. Leslie for five years. Sally has rehearsed and conducted many of the bands at UNLV. She has been a participant in many UNLV graduate conducting classes and is the only undergraduate student ever to have conducted the UNLV Wind Orchestra in concert.
