About Me

Wataru HokoyamaB. August 24th, 1974. Aizu, JapanWataru Hokoyama, alumni of Interlochen Arts Academy, holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music, and an Advance Certificate from the University of Southern California (Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television program), where he studied with Donald Erb, Elmer Bernstein, Christopher Young and Buddy Baker respectively.Hokoyama particularly writes music for Film, TV, and Concert Music. His works have been performed at various concert halls in Japan, and the United States, and many of his music have been recorded at such studios as Paramount Studio Scoring Stage M, and Skywalker Scoring Stage.In May 2001, a short film titled "Bean Cake" which Hokoyama wrote scores for, won the Palm d’Or (Best Picture in Short Film Category) at The 54th Annual Cannes Film Festival. In February 2003, another short film scored by Hokoyama titled "ONE" has won The Online Audience Award at 2003 Sundance Film Festival. Within the same year, the 3rd short film Hokoyama scored called "Ocha Cups for Christmas" won various awards from more than 10 different film festivals world wide, including the best drama award at the Emmy (College Television Awards).He has also worked as orchestrator for motion picture and television such as "Dungeons and Dragons" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer (musical episode)."Recently, Hokoyama has worked with popular artists as arranger, and his Clients include Clay Aiken, and Jared Leto (30 Seconds To Mars).Hokoyama currently resides in Los Angeles.
