About Me

The Search Map are a band form three small towns just outside Manchester, England. We formed sometime around the second half of 2004, and spent most of our early time moving between our practice space and being cramped up & half volume at Nick and Maffs house writing songs and making noises using guitars, various samplers/drum machines, shitty keyboards, good keyboards, drums, melodica, glockenspiel, children’s toys, vocals and anything else we could get our hands on. For the first two years we gathered together a whole load of home recordings and abandoned most of them, before first venturing into the studio in December 2005. We have now recorded 4 c.d's, two of which you can buy here, or from us at gigs, the other two have been disowned.
Often for months on end we are not to be seen.
If you want to get in touch with us for gigs or anything else please e-mail us at: [email protected]

'Glitch ridden intelli pop of the highest order - like TV On The Radio playing Modest Mouse at their tenderest - impossible to resist, and easy to lose yourself within - go, buy, now!' - Subba-Cultcha

'A stunning opening salvo from a band with more strings to their bow than somehow seems fair, frankly.'- Manchestermusic.co.uk

'The EP suggests a band capable of great things....9/10' - leedsmusicscene.net

'a frail and fractured, dreamy and downbeat sound – if Mogwai, International Airport, The Postal Service and Anticon were to have a child, they would name it The Search Map...their next victories hopefully shan’t be tiny but remarkable' - Is This Music?
