SOUNDS LIKE A PLAN...the return of
SOUNDS LIKE A PLAN (acronym: S.L.A.P), is an experiment to see if bringing AMAZING NEW BANDS to Warrington, giving away loads of free stuff, and spinning lots of ace tunes in between MAKES PEOPLE HAPPY.
NOVEMBER's S.L.A.P will be brought to a close via the the almightily slick and sexy trilogy of retro electro sensation MODERNAIRE. Their excellent 7-track CD 'Velvet Never Dries' is available now via Jackdaw Recordings , and captures the sexy purity of say, Goldfrapp, whilst simultaneously attacking your brain with the sort of buzzy basslines that you might have associated with Richard X, or even Kraftwerk. Only this machine knows how to groove. Manchester's High Voltage reckons "we could quite possibly be hearing the sounds of the most beautiful pop band of the past two decades." If you want to ignore this recommendation, then don't mind me, let your ears be the judge and shuffle over to their myspace page .
Before them, we have master of both melody and the game of risk NAPOLEON IIIRD. It's a carefully ramshackle one-man army of electro beats, harmonisation, full on guitar indie, battered equipment, and lyrics that help make your mundane existance seem a little less futile. Online music rag Drowned In Sound described him as "One of the most visionary artists in the world today." And we'd be absolutely inclined to agree. His latest album 'In Debt To' is out though Brainlove Records on October 29th, and it's currently in the midst of absolute critical acclaim. You can order it online here . Or watch the video.

“complex lo-fi pop made out of piles of antique organs and car-boot keyboards, strummed chords, parps of brass and glitchy beats… Hit Schmooze For Me is the finest tune to rail against the daily grind since 9 To 5.†– The Guardian
Whilst scanning out background information on Mr IIIrd, we spotted a wee split 7 inch single with him and a someone who goes by the name of PAGAN WANDERER LU. And we were stunned. He has self-released many an EP, multiple singles and a number of albums over the last 6 years (he's still not 25 yet) and his latest collection of experimental pop classics coupled with acerbic lyricism is just about to raise its beautifully skewiff noggin from the surface, again on talent-spotters extraordinaire Brainlove Records. It'll be called 'Perfection R.I.P', and it's out on November 5th (is it any coincidence that it's the anniversary of Guy Fawkes attempting to blow up the Houses of Parliament?), and preceded by the 'Tree Of Knowledge' single, the video of which you'll see below. Adam Walton from BBC Radio Wales thought Pagan Wander Lu as 'A man with a musical brain quite unlike any other'. What do you think? .
