About Me

What's that man doing to his face?! Oh, that's our buddy Brian. He was a sport who starred in our first video. Video is for "Binky" and will be out in a few months. We can't wait!
And here's a few more stills from the same video. Director Adam wants you to know the colours aren't final!
Thanks everybody who was part of our video shoot! There were loads more involved not in this shot. Adrian, I love your expression in this shot (he's the cute one wearing a cap kneeling in front with the metal hand sign). Hey!Lied had the top spot on Fly.FM's Campur Charts the week of Jan 8, 2007. We had our little moment. Thank you everybody who voted! Hahahah. We love you.
We're playing VI Institution! Here's one of the flyers for the carnival day.And here's another. For more info, visit the VI Carnival page. ,
About the band:
This machine started in 2004 with the Making Enemies EP. The EP was a one-man recording by band leader Adlin that came in the wake of some rough times, hence the music was cranky and full of angst. What characterised the release was the abundance of memorable melodies spiked with jagged noises, electronic experimentation, passionate singing and distorted guitars. That was just the trailer though, Lied has since evolved into a full band with Adlin on vocals, Wan Botak on drums, Natalie on bass along with Sen Kiat and Jessica on guitars.
The group's sound has since evolved into a mish-mash of classic '90s sounds, with big riffs, memorable choruses and a complete disregard for regular genre conventions. Sometimes there's borderline metal going with screaming and punishing drums, in other places you'll get a quiet ballad wanting to lull you. One minute the band sounds like a typical rock beast, the other it's morphed into an electronic cyborg. Blame it on the band's love for Led Zeppelin, Smashing Pumpkins, Depeche Mode, Garbage and Tool who don't limit their sound to a specific style.
Lied's live shows are just as eclectic. The group has performed full-on rock shows at big events and quiet acoustic ones in intimate cafes. Regardless of the setting, the band finds ways of making its music work. The rock songs get turned into ballads, the quiet songs get turned into electronic ditties. This band does not enjoy limitations and makes every effort to prove this.
A full album is on the way. Lied is busy arguing among itself and working on an effort set for release in 2007.
"This is not everyone's cup of tea, but definitely for those who drink something stronger."
