31/12/2007: GOODBYE 2007, HELLO APPENDICES...So that was that, a year of sporadic touring, one-off gigs, recording and one-off releases. I'd like to thank everybody who's kept the flag flying, all our friends and families in Lanarkshire and Glasgow and everyone at our record label(s). 2008 will be the busiest year for De Rosa yet, with album II recieving it's final touches in March for a release in the summer. We'll also be embarking on our longest tours to date, and hopefully we'll be able to get to some of the more remote parts of the UK for the first time. ALSO: APPENDICES PROJECT STARTS JANUARY...
We're really excited to present our new monthly free download project "De Rosa: Appendices". On the first Monday of every month in 2008, we'll be uploading a free mp3 of a piece of music that will appear no-where else in the De Rosa catalogue. This is a platform for us to experiment with some things we've never done before, hopefully painting a more accurate picture of what De Rosa is becoming. APPENDIX 1 WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR FREE DOWNLOAD FROM THE MYSPACE AND WWW.WEAREDEROSA.COM ON 7TH JANUARY 2008...WE WISH YOU ALL A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR, HERE'S TO THE FUTURE!

De Rosa have this week entered the studio to start work on the follow-up to their 2006 debut, 'Mend'. The new album is being recorded at Chem19 Recordings, Hamilton, Scotland, by acclaimed producer Andy Miller (Mogwai, Scout Niblett, Life Without Buildings etc etc etc...). Songs being worked on include 'A Love Economy', 'Pest' and 'In Code', all of which have made appearances in recent live sets and studio sessions. The album is expected for a late 2007/early 2008 release.Press for 'MEND', the first DE ROSA album..."The kind of parochial majesty you might encounter if The Pixies reworked The Go-Betweens "Before Hollywood" for a documentary about the social history of Lanarkshire. Yes, that good."
4/5 | MojoTheir debut album is an absolute treat; an atmospheric effort mixing itchy twitchy off-kilter vocals, ragged riffs and dark melodies twist, turn and build into thrillingly blustery crescendos. Mend is intensely compelling and will break your heart over and over again."
4/5 | The List"All too rarely you stumble across a band that stands head and shoulders above the crap and leaves you gasping for breath, De Rosa are one of those bands."
4/5 | The Fly"Debut of the year? Its far too early to say, but this much is certain: the bar has been set at a dizzying height... "
5/5 | Gigwise.com"Thoroughly recommended"
4/5 | Irish Times"It's beautiful in its evocation of place and emotion whilst also sounding raw and angry; its also bloody catchy and Evelyn brought a tear to my eye!"
85% | Spill Magazine"Songs like New Lanark and Hattonrigg Pit Disaster are tell-tale examples of a potentially great lyricist exploring his world. Mend could prove to be the arrival of a great band."
PlayMusic"A debut LP that's refreshingly resistant to pidgeonholing. Mend has its folk-ish moments, but defines folk in the sense of regional belonging (eg, New Lanark and Cathkin Braes) rather than genre prescription, and is both thrillingly visceral and gently contemplative as a result."
BBC Collective"De Rosa have created an album that flits effortlessly between sprawling post rock noise and formulaic but splendidly precise edgy pop workouts."
Artrocker"Its probably too soon to say, but its possible that De Rosa could turn out to be a little bit special."
