Growing up in Coon Rapids MN, Jarrod Micah Johnson was but 5 years old when he began playing the guitar. His older sister had started taking lessons bofore him and he became jelous. His parents had refused him at first due to his young age but he was persistant and they finally allowed him to take lessons. He wrote his first when he was twelve years old. His sixth grade girlfriend had broke up with him on the last day of school and he followed his natural tendency to put his life experiences into a song. At fifteen, Jarrod joined his first band at a local church. They provided the music for a contemporary worship service. The other band members had been in a country band that played local clubs during the week and after a while they asked him if he would like to join them at other venues outside the church playing country music. It was somewhat awkward for him being so young and was not allowed in some clubs due to his age but when he could perform he made the most of it. On stage he was right at home no matter what the venue was.
As soon as he got his drivers license, Jarrod would drive to a local mall on the Mississippi river and play on the sidewalk for tips. He would play on weekends until closing time when his band wasn't playing or when he couldn't get into a club with his band. His parents worried for his safety but knew they couldn't stop his love for performing and country music. After high school he turned down a few basketball scholarships to pursue what he has always loved...music.
Jarrod took on a job at a radio station in Wisconsin and whilehe was there, met a man named Ron Avis backstage at a Randy Travis concert. Ron really loved his songs and told him he should pursue music further and move to Nashville.
So, HERE HE IS...
Jarrod has been beating down doors for coming on 10 years, and all that persistence has finally begun to pay off and doors are finally starting to open! Jarrod met his partner in crime Phil Meredith, and the two of them have become a great team. Jarrod's ambition has not been to be a singer, so he had someone else sing on his demos. Recently, due to encouragement of his good friend Deryl Dodd, Jarrod has been recording more of his own songs. You see, the more people hear him, the more time he puts to the songs, the more the heart and passion grows, the more his confidence grows the more others want to hear.
He has recently started his own publishing company due once again to the encouragement of his friends who believe in him and his music.Jarrod wishes to Thank you ALL for your support, he would not have made it here, today, without you.
