About Me

Jon was raised in Southern California in the San Fernando Valley. He started playing guitar at age 12. He played in his first band at 12 and has never stoped playing. At age 16 he played his first nightclub and his first tour at 20. He studied with the Great late Ted Greene and his musical doors were opened. Jon also played in the Jazz band at Valley Jr. College in Van Nuys Ca. He started teaching guitar at C&D Music in Sepulveda. Jon later joined the Jazz workshop with Studio great Bill Yeager, and that helped his reading chops. When he came off a tour in 1973 Jon hooked up with his friend Reed Walsh and was intoduced to Ken Weiss, Stephen Stills manager through Reed. For the next 10 years Jon was in differen't bands through that management and did sessions with some of the best players from Linda Rhondstat, Stephen Stills, Firefall,Juice Newton and many others. Jon focused on his Songwriting when his friend and Bandmate Mike Curtis co-wrote the song"Southern Cross" with Stills. It was the Song that Launched Crosby- Stills & Nash on their DayLight Again record. In the mid to late 90's Jon moved his family to Colorado and formed the band "Cave Canem" Which showcased all over CO. They picked up management in Denver, and Jon's Friend Kelly Keagy from the band "Night Ranger"came out to help Jon with the project. Jons friend Don Mersman helped finance the band and they cut their 1st record. Jon wrote the song"The Fool" which has had good response and Kelly helped co-wrie the tag on the song. After the management turned sour, Jon moved back to California and is now focusing on new tunes teaching, networking with other songwriters and musicians.Jon Pileggi's Blog
