Guitars/Keys/Composer

About Me

Catherine was born in the San Francisco Bay Area. At the age of 9 playing and writing music on the guitar and piano soon became one of her favorite pastimes. Being self-taught, Catherine has developed a love for playing guitar, singing, playing keyboards and writing music.
Catherine's music has evolved into a unique style of progressive rock and fusion which is evident in many of her compositions. For her, writing music is easy. It's the arranging and playing with proficiency that requires a little work. For Catherine, music is an expression of emotion. "There are no preconceived ideas as to what the melody or song is "supposed" to sound like at the start. As I write, I'm taken on a journey and not knowing where I am going is exciting, adventurous, and pure enjoyment. No one else needs to hear it if you don't want them to. You are doing it for yourself. Live for the moment."
Currently, Catherine is working on a number of recording projects for other artists and plans to start recording her 2nd solo CD later this year.

"Paradise Swamp is a solid nine cut instrumental rock fusion classic that places Ms. Delgadillo in some interesting musical light. In addition to handling the electric and acoustic guitars, Delgadillo proves to be an adept keyboardist as well, multi-tracking her well recorded acoustic piano parts. From melodic fusion to more atmospheric acoustic guitar/piano pieces, Paradise Swamp displays an abundance of creative modern instrumental music." - 20th Century Guitar magazine
"As a new female guitarist on the fusion front, Catherine Delgadillo's debut cd is an instrumental tour de force. Elements of Tribal Tech, Allan Holdsworth, and Brand X are evident throughout her cd."- Audiophile Imports
"She has the songwriting ability as well as the chops but I love her songwriting style. I can tell her melody is the song, not just a riff over chords which is rare trait to find!" - Brev Sullivan (Miami based singer, songwriter/ guitarist and son of legendary Jazz multi-instrumentalist Ira Sullivan)
"Wild time changes along with acute sensibilities make this a most intriguing piece of music." - Richard Kolp, Live365 Internet Radio
"Catherine is a superb guitar player, up there among the best jazz fusion / prog rock players I've heard." - Zack Urlocker, GuitarVibe.com
