His musical education started in the elimentary school singing in a boys choir (Salzburger Domkappellknaben). When he was ten years old he started to play the trumpet and went to the Music-Highschool Musisches Gymnasium in Salzburg, where he graduated 1999. 1994 he switched to the trombone and had lessons with Bernhard Jauch and Prof. Norbert Brandauer.
1997 he became a member of “Das Ballaststofforchester†(Music of the 20th and 30th; 5 CD releases until now).
After serving in the Austrian Army, Bernhard came to Graz to study Jazztrombone with Ed Neumeister on the University of Arts in Graz. Now he works as assistent for Bigband on the Jazzdepartment of the University and is also studying composition and arranging with Ed Partyka.
As basstrombonist he is a steady member of the HGM Jazzorkestar Zagreb (artistic leader: Sigi Feigl), the Jazzit Stage Orchestra (Salzburg), Big Band Bad Gleichenberg and the KUG Big Band. Playing the euphonium he is a member of the Austrian Brass Band, an orchestra of the classical faculty in Graz (artistic leader: Maestro Nassir Haidarian).
In various projects he worked together with Peter Erskine, John Riley, Jim McNeely, Peter Herbolzheimer, David Murray, Ed Partyka, Erik van Lier, Deborah Brown, David King, Bill Holman, .... .
