Bernd Reiter was born in Leoben in 1982. He started playing the drums in 1988 taking lessons with Nik Wonisch in Bruck/Mur. From 2001 to 2007 he studied at the University for Music and Dramatic Arts Graz with Prof. Manfred Josel and Christian Salfellner.
He attended Workshops with Billy Cobham, Bruno „Bim“ Castellucci, John Riley, Lewis Nash, Charli Persip, Jimmy Cobb...
He played at sessions with Marc Abrams, Dick Oatts, Gary Smulyan, Brad Leali and many others...
He took part in classical concerts with the Haydnorchester Bruck/Mur, the Innerberger Brass-Ensemble and the Young Musicians International Symphony Orchestra (Igor Coretti).
He performed with many national and international well-known Jazz artists like Mundell Lowe, John Marshall, Andy KcKee, Rob Bargad, Willi Johanns, Melanie Bong, Claus Raible, Herwig Gradischnig, Renato Chicco, Tizian Jost, Thomas Stabenow, Peter Tuscher, Jure Pukl, Martin Reiter, Mathias Pichler, Gabor Bolla, Guido Jeszenszky, Primoz Grasic, Heinz von Hermann, Gerd Bienert, Ines Reiger, Richard Oesterreicher...
In 2004 he was member of the "Förderpreisband" at the International Jazzfestival „generations 04“ in Frauenfeld/ Schweiz. This band toured in summer 2005 with Roman Schwaller and Adrian Mears (Vienna Art Orchestra).
In 2005 he was one of the winners of the "Marianne Mendt Talentewettbewerb" and performed at the 1. MM. Jazzfestival in St. Pölten with the MM Band (Herwig Gradischnig, Daniel Nösig, Oliver Kent and Werner Feldgrill). The concert was recorced and "I'll Remember April" was part of the official Festival CD, released by the ORF.
In 2005 he did his first tour with his own quartet feat. Roman Schwaller, a great Swiss tenor player and friend.
In 2006 he recorded his first own CD with this quartet, which will be officially released on TCB Music SA -The Montreux Jazz Label in March 2008.
In 2006 he won the "New York Stipendium" of the HANS KOLLER PRIZE.
Since January 2008 Bernd Reiter lives in Munich.
