“Alvaro Iglesias commenced his musical studies in 1995 at the Mayeusis Conservatory in Vigo specialising in Double-Bass. Alvaro has been privileged to have amongst his mentors the likes of the Lithuanian Iminas Kucinskas, Cris Gándara, Camilo Freire and especially Carlos Méndez (teacher at the Escuela de Altos Estudios Musicales of Galicia and member of the Galician Royal Philharmonic Orchestra).Alvaro has formed part of various musical ensembles, always within the folk music genre, amongst which are important to mention:- TRES (1994-96), a folk-rock group comprising members of the well known group MATTO CONGRIO with whom he appeared in his first concerts.- CARLOS NÚÑEZ (1997-98) with whom he has played in numerous concerts, both nationally and internationally during the presentation of the very first album “A Irmandade das Estrelasâ€.- PANCHO ÃLVAREZ (1998) whom Alvaro accompanies on a regular basis during his concerts having also appeared in various recordings, including his last album “Nas Cordasâ€.- FALTRIQUEIRA (2003-05), a group with a magnificent projection within the current Galician music scene, has had Alvaro appearing as percussionist and double-bass player in their first album "Faltriqueira".Alvaro currently forms part of bands such as ARAN (2000), ENTRE TRASTES (2006), the piper ANXO LORENZO (2007) and ARDENTÃA (2007) amongst others, and is also a freelance studio musician and collaborates live with other bands on the national music scene.â€
