Band Members: Hoboe is an interesting hybrid of musical performers, drawing from an expansive reservoir of musical talent to form a unique band for each performance....
Originally formed in Portland, Maine, Hoboe has played numerous shows in the area, but desperately yearns to tour. What Hoboes don't travel? Hoboe is for all intensive performances, considering 2008 its true debut year, playing locally and regionally to build its fan base and exposure. Hoboe intends to record a CD this year, for release in 2009, along with a tour. Labels and managers are welcome to inquire.
A vast underground railroad of over 35 musicians have made appearances with Hoboe, or hitched a ride as guest performers:
A listing can be found at this link:THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD .
Zen Ben / Zennifer is the bandleader and songwriter for most of Hoboe's original material. (s)He has played oboe with notable national and local acts including former Grateful Dead keyboardist Vince Welnick, Schleigho, Mocha Java, and Boombazi.
Bassist Bob Bergeron, played several times with the "old" Hoboe and has been back again with the "new" Hoboe since late 2007. The man plays bass--he's solid.
Tom Metz just hopped the Hoboe train, and pushes jazz licks to a whole new level of rockability. He cranks.
Eric Lawson plays drums and will be debuting with Hoboe at its next performance at Slainte on May 30th.
The improvisational spirit comes through at live Hoboe shows, and sometimes you can never predict exactly what will happen or where the sound will go.
