Freakwitch

About Me

Freakwitch defies simple categorization. They are a high energy rock band, yet the rhythm section plays acoustic instruments. The singer (Matthew) cut his teeth in the jam band scene, the rhythm guitarist ( JWL ) is into progressive rock, the lead guitarist (Todd) takes his influence straight from the guitar gods, the bassist ( Yo ) loves reggae, and the drummer (Alfred Lund) has been building drums and exploring their energies in a variety of manifestations for many years. But one thing defines what Freakwitch is all about: exchanging energy with each other and their audience.
Alfred's dynamic, centered drumming, Yo's fluid, melodic bass playing, Todd's rich, resonant leads, and JWL's inimitable acoustic guitar stylings (he thinks of his guitar as a percussion instrument) create a savory sonic landscape for Matthew, an engaging lyricist and a charismatic frontman. Freakwitch songs have a captivating energy that entices you to dance and trance.
"Our music is sacred to us. We've spent a lot of time and energy crafting what we're about. It sticks in your head, and there is a subtle depth to it. It resonates with our audience. The world deserves to hear these songs."
