Giovanni "Leon" Robotti

Sono nato il 25/03/1982. Inizio a suonare il basso all'età di 16 anni. Dopo un primo periodo da autodidatta inizio a studiare più approfonditamente il mio strumento sotto la guida del maestro Fabio Marengo. Partecipo alle edizioni 2004 e 2005 del "Berklee Summer School at Umbria Jazz Clinics" con Oscar Stagnaro (docente Berklee dal 1988) e Claudio Zanghieri (bassista della band di Fabio Mariani). Approfondisco i miei studi di accompagnamento, groove e cura del suono con Paolo Costa (Claudio Baglioni, Francesco Renga, Renato Zero...). Negli anni ho partecipato a numerosi seminari didattici con artisti tra cui: Faso (Elio e le Storie Tese), Paolo Costa, Massimo Moriconi (Chet Baker, Mina, Renato Sellani...), Giovanni Tommaso (Enrico Rava, Stefano Bollani, Danilo Rea...), Marcus Miller (Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, Chaka Khan...) e molti altri. Di recente ho iniziato l'attività di insegnante tenendo il corso di basso elettrico presso il "Punto D" di Alessandria. Disponibile per sostituzioni (compatibilmente con gli impegni precedentemente presi), turni in studio ed altri tipi di collaborazione anche a livello didattico.

I was born the 25th of March 1982. I started playing bass guitar when i was 16. After a first period as a self tought musician, I started studying my instrument in a more serious way followed by my teacher Fabio Marengo. In 2004 and 2005 I took part to the "Berklee Summer School at Umbria Jazz Clinics" with Oscar Stagnaro (bass teacher at Berklee College of music since 1988) and Claudio Zanghieri (bass player of the Fabio Mariani's Band). I improved my studies about groove and arrangements with Paolo Costa, probably the most busy Italian session player (workin' with Claudio Baglioni, Renato Zero, Francesco Renga and many others). In these years I took part also to several Clinics with artists like Faso (Elio e le Storie Tese), Paolo Costa, Massimo Moriconi (Chet Baker, Mina, Renato Sellani...), Giovanni Tommaso (Enrico Rava, Stefano Bollani, Danilo Rea...), Marcus Miller (Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, Chaka Khan...) and many others. I recently started also my activity as a teacher and I have the Bass Class at the "Punto D" school of art in Alessandria.
