Dave The Hawklord

Been into bands and good music all my life.I Was into Blues, Canned Heat, The Cream, etc Credence Clearwater Revival The Faces,and had a liking of good soul / Motown music.Then along came Hawkwind. I then got into Roxy Music i love their early stuff with Brian Eno and Eddie Jobson on Violin. When i heard Hawkwind for the first time my mind was blown,i just had to find out more about who this band was. Since that day in 1970 i have been a massive Hawkwind fan having seen them many times over the years and many different line ups. First saw them play in Liverpool at Mardi Gras Club in 1970. I was fortunate to have seen them play Liverpool Stadium both In Search Of Space Tour and Space Ritual tour. Dave Brock, Robert Calvert, Nik Turner, Lemmy, Huw Lloyd Langton, Simon King, Simon House, Dik Mik Davies, Del Dettmar, Terry Ollis, Dave Anderson, Paul Rudolph, Ron Tree, Harvey Bainbridge, they were all stars of the band, today alas the only original member is Dave Brock, Huw does guest appearances with them, as does Simon House & Lemmy. But the one who stood out was Robert Calvert he was a pure genius and was set to return to the bands line up on the Earth Ritual Tour but sadly passed away prior to it. His songs are still as strong today as the day he wrote them and strongly feature in Hawkwind sets of today, his memory lives on. Through it all Dave Brock has been the steady rock of Hawkwind, he has taken many different line ups out on the road. Over the years i have been to see Hawkwind you always know there's likely to be line up changes but you always know Dave Brock will be out there leading them, he like Calvert is a legend. Im also in to all the ex members who have formed off shoot bands such as Nik Turner, Lemmy, Huw Lloyd Langton, Simon House, Alan Davey, to name a few. My two sons Dave & Paul are in bands,they have also been in in a couple of bands together. I have video's here on myspace of them in The Flys, but they are now in seperate bands Dave's a drummer and Paul's a lead guitarist. They have been in different bands over the last 10 years or so, including current bands Familiar Looking Strangers, & The Roulettes and including previous bands The Skylarks, Northern Souls, The Flys, The Fahrenheits,Happy Accident & Stone Free. The bands they are curently in are very good bands and I support both bands. But as they are my sons and i used to love watching them performing together,i would love it if one day they got together in a band again. I am also a big fan of The Hooleys a Liverpool band who play Irish Folk Music.I have enjoyed many a fine gig of theirs over the years.
