So, why The Starfighters? Why now?
"It would be an honour to crash in such a plane. To be hideously mutilated beyond the recognition of one’s own mother..."
While that is indeed true, there are other factors too. It’s the opportunity to play with Jaime & Lugi again, as we did in The Arnold back in the late ’70s - a return to the point where it all started, combined with the wisdom of many moons passed to drive us on... further... here to go!
Then there’s Greg; he of Here Be Dragons infamy. Spent 2007 with him in the mighty spacemachine that is Aurora & danced like a dervish to the licks & riffs that spilled out of him; a music that makes the spelling of the word, "sublime,"appear to look gloriously wrong. Definately driving onwards... further... here to go!
Spiderdancing with Fragment, Aquasense & These Murders ( the latter with Russell Black, himself a Starfighter in ’88 - now a a Warrior ) & with the the current drive to create new worlds, both the time & the chemistry are right to take The Starfighters’ rich legacy on... further... out in to space & here to go!
Time to drop the fish, dudes, & watch them fly!
Be punky xXx

So Why Now?
Simply put, this line-up feels right! From the 70s, into the 21st century!...here to go!
READY FOR TAKE OFF
-Jaime Cortinas, March 2008
Formed summer of 1987. Robert Calvert & The Starfighters performed 27 gigs before Bob’s untimely death in August 1988.
The rehearsing, for those interested, took place in a barn on a farm in St Nicholas, Kent. In September 1987, Pete (my cousin), videoed one such rehearsal. The audio ended up being released by Voiceprint as a CD entitled "Radio Egypt". The video clips on this page are from the same day.
Original members - Robert Calvert, Jaime Cortinas, Lugi Michael and Aaron Phillips.
Russell Black was drafted in on bass during the summer of 1988
