About Me

Gerard worked as a sign-writer for several years before becoming a professional musician. He started playing drums in his teens and took up the piano in his mid twenties, went on to study at the, College of Music Dublin, and did his performance diploma.

Bands and vocalists he has played/recorded with on the Irish music scene over the years include: Deja Vu, Mary Stokes Blues Band, Linda Martin (Eurovision winner), The Naked Lunch (Steely Dan Tribute), Ann Buckley (Lord Of The Dance), Flo McSweeney, Paul Harrington (Eurovision winner), Rob Strong, Declan Nerney, Colum Sands, Siobhan Petit, Legendary Hoods Blues Band, The Wilf Brothers, The Hit Connection (for some years now one of the country's most successful bands in the corporate entertainment market).

Ger also works in theatre and studio and amongst his recordings are many well known television and radio jingles, e.g. Shell Oil, Andrews Liver Salts, Double Centre Choclates, Manhattan Peanuts, Centra Food Stores, Irish Beef, Headache Tablets, to name but a few.
He and singer Sinead Stone released their highly acclaimed album, ‘Legacy Of A Quiet Man’, on their, Seolta Records, label. The album is a collection of songs written by Gerard’s father, Dick Farrelly, who is best remembered for his song, The Isle of Innisfree, theme of the film, The Quiet Man. The album was a best seller for Gael Linn and RMG/Chart Distribution and was the subject of an RTE Television documentary. (CD available online at www.stoneandfarrelly.com)

Gerard worked as musical director with the, Irish Children’s Theatre Company, composed the music for an Andrew's Lane Theatre stage production of, "The Land of Hearts Desire", by W. B. Yeats and spent a couple of years teaching keyboards at the, V.E.C. Ballyfermott ‘Rock School’.

He is currently studying cello, teaches piano and amongst his various gigs plays keyboards in a 'labour of love’ Steely Dan tribute band, 'AJA'. Ger's television work includes, The Late Late Show, Live at 3, Open House, Nationwide, Borderline, Non Stop Pop, Night Hawks, Search For A Star, Sheebin and several radio programmes on RTE and BBC.
