About Me
Nikki, originally a trained dancer in jazz ballet & Tap...started singing at a very young age. She took part in amateur performances such as Oklahoma, 42nd Street & Chicago. She moved to London at the ripe old age of 17 but returned for family reasons. Whilst taking part in a variety show, the lead singer became ill, Nikki quickly filled her shoes and has never looked back.----She went on to enter & win the karaoke competitions all over the country from Swords to Navan, up the north & back again. Then came the 98FM starsearch, with a bout of tonsilitis she had to drop out the first year but re-entered the following year and won, singing John Lennon's 'Imagine', she reworked the song to suit her smooth velvety soul sound and belted out Whitney Houstons 'Greatest Love Of All' ...winning her the prize money and recording time. But that wasnt enough, then onto the Voice of Meath & many more....she had then decided to make a go of music professionally.----She hooked up with some musicians and the band 'Nu Root Rhythm' were formed, highly acclaimed for their funk/soul sound, this suited her perfectly. They won Emergenza band of the year recorded an album and travelled to Europe on tour. (the band have now broken to form 'Les Bien', in which Nikki sings on the hit 'Nous Sommes' and the 'Scribble Orchestra' in which Nikki sings on most tracks.)----There she met Marcus Valentine and became his soul backing singer... recorded an album and hit the road...----Since then Nikki has featured on 'You're a star', getting down to the last nine in Dublin, unfortunately, seen as most Dubs dont watch the programme, she was knocked out....but not easily put off, she entered the infamous X-Factor in 2006 and made it to boot camp, Simon said 'a sexy lady with a voice to match' Louis said 'i think you have everything, the look, the voice...and you are irish, i hope you are in my team'...sadly this was not to be, Sharon was absent from the auditions due to family reasons and she was to be her mentor...Nikki got to the last 25 out of 100,000 and was sent home. 'it was fantastic experience, i loved every minute, but never again!!!!'----At the moment Nikki sings with 20th Century gold every weekend & deps for many other bands including Cantaloupe, Boogie Nights, The Party Kings, Funkytown...to name but a few...She also regularly works as a session singer with many top acts...----Nikki also appears on many leading Irish artists albums' as backing vocalist from Red Hurley, Autamata, Les Bien, Scribble Orchestra and even Dustin the turkey!!!
