About Me
The story of Outcast starts back in 1997. Two brothers, Nick and Tim, decide to jam together and soon, a few songs result from those sessions. Nico D and Wouter, two good friends come to check them out now and then. Eventually, they also join the band. While Wouter is screaming his lungs out, Nico D takes care of the 4-string. The first real band name at the time is "Stronghold" but since their style of music is completely different from the other bands in the region, they change the name into "Outcast", meaning differing from the rest. Wouter leaves the band due to a lack of time and Dréten starts doing the vocals.
Shortly, after the addition of a new singer, Outcast records a tape in Tim and Nick's living room(the perforce rehearsal-room at the time). A limited number of tapes is recorded and released by Sven Aborted on Esophagus Records. After a while, Dréten also leaves the band and is replaced by Gerrit. Outcast starts to play a lot of shows and is finally getting its name out. It's November 1998 and a second guitar player is attracted to boost the power during the live shows. Wesley B(ex-Sektor, ex-Strong Individual) seems to be the right man for the job. In April 1999, the band hits the CCR-studio(produced by Kris) to record their debut mini-cd. Five tracks were recorded but the label at the time fails the band and doesn't release the recordings. It's during that period that Gerrit leaves the band after all those events. A few shows are finished with two replacement singers: Steve 187 and Sven Aborted. Eventually, a new singer is found in Nico R. Since the recordings still really weren't released, the band decides to put it out on a tape. 200 copies are sold in one week! The new singer, Nico R, was amazed by this success and decided to release the recordings on his own label. This resulting in a 3-way split with Immersed in Blood(Sweden) and Confessions of Obscurity(Belgium) at the end of 2000. Again, Outcast starts playing a whole lot of shows. But Outcast wouldn't be Outcast if everything would work out perfectly. In 2001, disagreements between the band members causes a break up. Tim and Nick don't give up and keep looking for new members.
With success. Geoff(ex-Retaliate) on the 4-string and Carrez(ex-Ectopia, ex-Caducity) on guitar. A new singer isn't found immediately so an "audition" is organised. At a certain time, two friends(Beermaster & Pieter) came walking in during a rehearsel. It turns out they both have an amazing vocal sound and the band can't really choose. Because of that, two singers take care of the vocals from that time on. Filled with new blood, Outcast makes a comeback. Putting the amps on 11 and blowing the speakers. They even introduced a strip act into the set and they were back on stage...as a bomb! Unfortunately, another member leaves the band right after the come-back shows. Beermaster can't combine Outcast with his studies and the band continues with only one singer. At the end of 2002, the band hits the CCR-studio again to release a mini-promo-split cd with Retaliate. The recordings turn out great and at the beginning of 2003, it is released on DHM Records. A few weeks after the release(March 2003) Carrez also leaves the band. His company is demanding a great part of his spare time. He isn't able to spend more time to be a part of Outcast. The band thanks him for all that he has done and goes on with the remaining four members. In spit of the member-change, again, Outcast starts playing a lot of shows, the response was great and the crowd went nuts! In this whole postive atmosphere the band was bursting with life, they made tons of new songs and that creative boost is also the reason for a new project called "One False Move"(january 2004) which featured: Tim OC(guitar), Nick OC(Drums) and Nico ex-OC(Bass). With the metal sound of Outcast, both Timme and Nick started writing more moshy and less technical songs, more NYHC influenced, back to their old days. They recruited Geoff(bassplayer of Outcast) as vocalist and began playing shows in the area(for further details about this project, check the Whatever It Takes-my space-site). In May 2005 Outcast made some future recording-permissions. First they joined the Face Your Underground 3 compilation-cd(July 2005). They record especially for this compilation an exclusive brutal-grind-song at the AK's-studio(produced by Kris "Forced Hate"). After the release, the idea was to made a full-cd but before that happened they record for promotion a few older songs that didn't fit on the upcoming full cd, They hit the Studio 13(produced by Michail) and went back to basic. No overdubs or overproduced bullshit! Anyway, the occasion was that the friendly band Moker was recording a demo-tape and Outcast had some older songs in the butcher-closet, so, they threw up their hands in astonishment and they gave both green-light for a promo-split-cd. In that case, Moker could release a split demo with a band people already heard off and Outcast had the chance to record those tracks anyway. It was Shiver Records that signed the deal and in january 2006 the split CD came out!
So the madness is still high-tight! After some satisfied promo-gigs, again some internal problems. Due musical differences, Geoff decided to quit the band(February 2006). He was replaced by an old acquaintance, Wesley B. The funny strange thing was that they decide to made some member-switches. In other words, a bass-player went out and a guitar-player cames in. In practice the current line up is: Tim(guitar), Wesley(guitar), Nick(drums), Pieter(vocals). The bass(for studio-productions) will be done by Pieter. In june 2006 they finally booked nine days at "De Studio" in Asse(produced by Dirk) to Record Outcast's long-awaited first full effort. They split the record-days with brother band Whatever It Takes who are also recording their full CD. Normally the Full will be out in the summer of 2007 and it will be released on DHM-records, so watch out!
