BIOGRAPHY
BOURBON for ROSES was born in the cold winter of 2004, a great time to unleash angry music onto the world. With the experience they had from playing in other bands they started writing and at the 12th of February 2005 the first gig of the quintet took place at JH Topya. They received great comments and from that point on they knew they had something going. It was a great impulse to keep on growing to what they have become today: A strong metalcore band, inspired by bands such as Facedown, Course of action, Morning again, Wise up and spirit of youth, to name only a few. There are elements that will appeal to every metal/hardcore-loving human being in their music. You’ll find melodies blend together perfectly with agressive pounding parts, Bourbon for Roses has it all. Their gigantic gig-list is the perfect verification for that, they have played all over Belgium and even out of its borders. On top off that they have played with almost all of the great bands our country has to offer and even some of the foreign greats (for example: Arkangel, Morda, Rise and Fall, The Setup, The Maple Room, Sparkle of Hope, Homer, Rafflesia, Officer Jones AHPCP, Do or Die, The Miscreants(NL), The Architect(NL), Under Siege(GER), In Mortal Combat(GER), Forever Blood In Tears(GER), Julith Krishun(GER), The Minute Between(AUT), Penknifelovelife(UK), And Their Eyes Were Bloodshot(UK), To Kill(IT), Enliven(IT), Let It Die(US), etc.)Except for their fantastic live-performances they also released their madness on cd in april 2005 with their demo-cd “Beautiness left to sleep†which sold 500 pieces in a very short amount of time. The mark was set and they started working on new material which will be released in may 2007. Their newborn child will be called “The final chapterâ€, but will surely not be the end of this great band. This mini-cd, recorded, mixed and mastered by AceZec at Fatsoundz productions in february 2007, might be their breakthrough to the bigger halls and festivals. The current direction of the band is still in the vein of 90’s metalcore, but is influenced by new school-acts such as Alexisonfire, Evergreen Terrace and Hopesfall. This is a band to keep an eye on in the future, they’ll break faces!
REVIEW
Self-released debut CD by the Belgian metalcore band BOURBON FOR ROSES. This one totally reminds of the metalcore sound that was pretty big in Belgium during the second half of the 90s. Screamed and spoken vocals that make FACEDOWN come to mind at times, while the guitarwork has a lot of melody and arpeggios making me think of bands from the past like ONCE NEVER AGAIN, BROKEN PROMISES, CLOUDED and even COURSE OF ACTION. Good job done by a band that hasn't forgotten its predecessors in Belgium when considering metalcore.GREAT TIMES!! In Mortal Combat(GER) vs. Bourbon For Roses(BE) - Germany Tour August 2007
