D.I.Y. Hardcore - Remember that? Its about having something to say, having passion, conviction and heart. Its not about bullshit like fashion or popularity.
We are a band that has things to say and that is interested in promoting a hardcore scene that gives a shit about the state of the world today, from issues of veganism/ animal rights to political and gender issues, to living a drug-free lifestyle.
There is plenty of room in hardcore for critical thinking, progression and fun all at the same time.
We have had two releases, one CD e.p. Left With the Ashes, released by Catalyst Records about two years ago, and a split 7" e.p. (with Breaking Away) titled Orwell Was an Optimist, which was a limited vinyl release (and is pretty much sold out now), also released by Catalyst.
We released a new demo this summer and followed that with a short West Coast tour (with out friends Gather, 7 Generations, and Time For Change), and are playing shows again after taking some time off and re-building. "Playing the Victim," a four song demo is available now (three new songs and a re-worked version of Sacrifice).
We will also be releasing a split 7" EP with 7 Generations on Catalyst Records to be titled "The World That Was" - look for this sometime in the winter of 2007/ 2008. Hopefully we will be hitting the West Coast again after that, either in December/ Jan or in the Spring.
We are still planning on recording for our full length CD Hope Dies Last , and we just need one or two more songs to be finished. Chances are we will start the recording process in January with the CD being released in April or May 2008, followed by a European tour.

Band Members: Alan D..: has a lot of shit in his face and nappy dreads, professional piercer, crazy with the body mods and has a shittier car than Kurt, which is saying something. Says he's not a hippy, but everyone else thinks he is. Rastaman!

Chris S.: sweet dude, he wails on the guitar like there's no tomorrow. college student and Bloomington resident, his ass got logged.

K. Austin: vocals, runs Catalyst Records, former vocalist for Birthright, only has one working vocal chord, hangs out a lot, listens to a lot of hip hop and reads nerdy fantasy books. Really wants to be a hip hop star.

S. Kent P.: drums, drives a scooter for a living, german tutor, Settlers enthusiast, drives the furthest to come practice, and before Alan came along had more tattoos than the rest of the band combined.

Marky Mark: guitar numero dos, we don't really know what he does besides play video games, says "safety" a lot, and live with Chris. Oh, Ms. Pacman, like 8 in the world or some shit.

Influences: straight edge is a political statement.

It is the politics of regaining control over the self, of taking back from those who wish to control you. It is the politics of rejecting the "values" that have been instilled in us, that have been etched in our hearts-greed, apathy and selfishness. In a system dependant on the intoxication and ignorance of the masses, the abstention from the same can be nothing other than a rebellion against the system. Our minds drowned and chained by unjust and empty traditions, straight edge is a rejection of the assumption by our culture that we will partake in their poisons, another fuel to their machine, another blind consumer for their industry.

More than abstention from intoxicants. More than music. More than words. More than friendship.

Ideals. Meaning. Beliefs.
Straight edge for its own sake is nothing, it is worthless.
If not out of selflessness, it is meaningless.
This is the straight edge i believe in.

Reject their system. Take back your life.
