Dead Babies on a Stick [Chaosanct band Announced]

Life's a joke without a Punchline

About Me

..
What is there to know? Well I mishguidedly pursue music as a passion and play in a band called Chaosanct that I've spent the past 2 and a bit years working on. I've previously enjoyed a stint in Cradle of Filth during the nymphetamine and Damnation and a Day eras, and also currently play in a band called Matron. Anyway, some background info:
The entity known as James was born somewhere in the murky depths of 1977 and has (somehow, experts are baffled as to the exact mechanism) managed to stay in some form of existance ever since. The creature can be recognised by a rather long mane of blond hair and a stupid goatee beard, and is harmless so can be approached, petted and fed if so required.
What else? A fascination with the number 7, witches, elves and wondering wether I am actually Belgian or if that's just something which happened along the way. Along with this comes an unhealthy obsession with gadgets and a compulsion to take things apart to see how they work (guitars are a favorite, along with electronic gadgets, although i have irreperably broken some things i've tried to fix). Oh, and green things (that aren't bodily fluids, as that means there's something very obviously wrong).
It also seems that random things happen to me, and that life is a continuous maze of surprises (for better and for worse) coupled with accidental occurances and total fuck ups (which are later recounted (if possible, sometimes it is just a bit too much to be retold) as tales of hilarity). Some people refer to this as fate. I refer to it as "slight technical mishap that our specialists are currently trying to fix (although, unsurprisingly they always happen to be on a kind of permanent holiday)". Just seems that some people are affected by it more than others. In some cases by choice, in others just because, well, it just happens... The technical glitch has been both quite kind and cruel at different times, and I'd not have it any other way.
For those that don't know I also play the guitar, and have done so for quite a number of years (i forget how long) and as such also spend my time playing about on them, tweaking them and in general have been annoying the living shit out of those unfortunate enough to live near me for years.
Along with all this, as most people seem to guess, I did spend a few years (in some extended state of intoxication) becoming rather unnervingly proficient at slapping on make up (no grown man should have to admit he knows what the mysterious objects in a womans make up kit do, let alone use them) and swinging my hair around (at varying speeds and in varying patterns) in different countries under the guise of playing guitar with Cradle of Filth. I had a good time, did a load of things that I'd wanted to do, and met a shitload of cool people along the way (even if I have some memory loss regarding who I've met courtesy of Mr Daniels, Mr Beam, Ms Belvedere and Dr Jaegermesiter to name but a few).
Eventually though, things must come to an end, and as of my choosing I decided to leave. Since then have been pursuing other interests, both musically and academically (I do have a brain somewhere, honest). And as such there are beginnings of new music and the return of brain cells from their extended holiday (those that haven't been exterminated that is). I had fun, maintained what was important to me morally and that is what counts really at the end of the day. I never expected to be on this ride, and I am still seeing where it ends up. Without uncertainty, in a way, life would be dull.
So to also shed some more light on the above, i am currently working with a few people and exploring options and seeing where they go, only being interested in entities that are and operate like bands without any other crap. Am quite happy to have a jam with people and see where it goes, as at the end of the day that is really what it's all about. Sounds simple, but it just seems that a lot of little things get in the way.
The objective of life in a simple phrase? No Regrets.

And while you're at it, and if you have any interest in planks of wood of a 7stringed nature then you can do worse than check out:

Also, for those that care, I play ibanez guitars (universes and various 7 strings, if you want to be more specific),
Bodenhamer Custom Effects: and with myself

My Interests

Guitars, techy stuff, taking things apart and generally almost putting them back together again, modifying things, poisoning people through solid consumables, travelling, playing live, electronics, digital stuff (basically geeky shit and things to do with numbers that are and look wrong), and generally anything involving lots of wires, swearing and the scent of burning flesh. Oh, and most green things except for bodily fluids of said colour...

I'd like to meet:

Anyone interesting that I can have a good drink (alcoholic or otherwise) with.

Music:

Well, there’s generally always something playing to fit my mood, but generally there’s the stuff I grew up on such as Iron Maiden, Katatonia, old Paradise Lost, Morbid Angel, At the gates, The Haunted, Moonspell, Type O Negative, Carcass, Alice in Chains, My Dying Bride, Diabolical Masquerade, Judas Priest, Samael, Immortal, Tori Amos, older Arch Enemy(the stigmata album in particular), old Megadeth, Hypocrisy, Nevermore and a few others.Nowadays along with that lot I enjoy listening to Scarve, Dark Funeral, Emperor, Finntroll, Coroner, SYL and Devin Townsend, King Diamond and Mercyful Fate, The Crown, Mnemic, Meshuggah, Testament, The Wicked, , Life of Agony, Soilwork, Porcupine Tree, Heaven shall Burn, some classical…the list goes on and on really, as long as it isn’t power metal (barring Sonata Arctica who are ace), crap chart music, rap, country or R&B it’s all good as the tune behind it. The faster the better though! There's loads more, and it does change quite a lot as new music fluxes in.

Movies:

Loads, mostly films with good twists, horror, shock value or just a plain good story. Requiem for a Dream, Braindead, Audition, Underworld, Star Wars original trilogy, Reservoir Dogs, Evil Dead, Army of Darkness, Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Dark Crystal, Day of the Dead, Dawn of the Dead, A Beautiful Mind, The Omen, Bowling for Columbine, Sleepy Hollow, various comedy porn, Dracula, Battle Royale, Spinal Tap, Bad News, Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, Kill Bill, Clerks, Mallrats, The decline of Western Civilisation: The Metal Years, Strange Days, Monty Pythons Holy Grail, Hellraiser, Meet the Feebles (so awful, it was comedy), Nightmare Before Christmas, Taxi Driver, Apocolypse Now, Creep, The Butterfly Effect… Shit like this, ie, films that have worth, interesting plots and endings, elements of horror and scary/sick shit or just plain bad and laughable. Dark or absurd humour goes a long way as well.

Television:

The only TV I'll watch is shit that makes you think, and the odd series that gets me sucked in, and actual films on TV. It's nowhere near as good as when i used to be a kid. There just seemed to be less crap on, less reality TV bullshit and more stuff you could actually learn from. Things like Miami Vice, the A Team, Knightrider and late 70's open university broadcasts by social retards with 50's glasses for example.
Oh, and add Robot Chicken to that list, as that shit is insanely good!
Consequently I dont watch TV much at all, except to occasionally cringe at crap emo band videos where they all look like spastics and mostly play shit whingy songs about their mothers not giving them the right cereal in the mornings (and the emotional scars it's left behind). I wish they'd been molested as kids, maybe they would have topped themselves by now and spared the rest of us. What happened to music kids? Why can't anyone see that it's just greenday and the offspring in a different guise? Get some fucking taste back, I want music videos with one or all of the following: tits, fire, blood and proper headbanging, otherwise it just isn't metal enough. EVER.

Books:

Loads. I'll pretty much read anything with a good story, good plot twists and that is not predictable. Also disturbing literature can be fun from time to time as well. Apart from that, if it's interesting, I'll read it!

Poison Elves, i know it's a comic, but check it out anyway, I spent a good few months leading into years wanting prosthetic ears because of this marvelous little creation by Drew Hayes.

Heroes:

The Four Horsemen of the apocalypse. Death, Pestilence, Famine, War (and Nigel, the unnoficial 5th member without whos level head and organisational know how it would never have been possible). Ray Santilli, Robert Oppenheimer, Dave Murray, Trey Azagtoth.
