About Me

Robin Yukiko is a versatile, shining talent with the guts and curiosity to mold music into something her own. Although she is influenced by artists and groups such as Fiona Apple, Radiohead and The Beatles, her music, and her path, is unique.
On June 18, 1982 in Van Nuys, CA, Robin was born to a jazz musician and choir director for a father and a co-directing mother. Three years later, they moved to Orlando, FL, where Robin went to a private school geared toward the learning-disabled due to supposed Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
She went on to attend Dr. Phillips High School, enrolled in the Performing Arts Magnet Program, which allowed her, at 14, to become the youngest vocalist featured in the Florida Youth Choral at Carnegie Hall .
    Robin produced her debut album
ME AND MY APATHY at 18 just before her year as an Opera Major at The University of Miami.
She finally moved to Boston and, after graduating from
Berklee College of Music with a Professional Music Degree (Cum Laude, 2006), Robin relocated to Japan. She is now playing regularly with her band in the Tokyo and Chiba areas.
Special thanks to engineer Eric Wysocki for his generous and meticulous services on Multiple Versions for You and the upcoming album Melissa Halibut's Suitcase, which is being completed long-distance.

Quotes from all over the world:
"[Her voice is] like honey and [red] wine, poured over glass, cut with a hot razor blade." ~Mumpsy, Florida singer/songwriter, and Chris Cucci, Florida musician
"The new stuff is amazing." ~Jenna Swisher, Orlando singer/songwriter
"very haunting to me[...it's] the whole style its to me almost ghostly echo like some [sort] of old memory playing in someones head and that song would be the [soundtrack] to it" ~Chris Stout, Orlando comedian, (on the song Like My Telephone)
"Me and My Apathy is one of the best original recordings I've heard in a long, long time. As a jazz vocalist myself, I tend to be overly critical when it comes to the sound of the female singing voice. Robin's music and Robin's voice are goldmines waiting to be discovered. My favorite song, in particular, is All That I Could Want. W.O.W.... and do you know what W.O.W. stands for? With Out Words. That's how I felt the first time that beautiful tone, melody and voice entered my ears. Me and My Apathy is a dynamite piece of work. Cheers to Robin Yukiko for her originality, creativity and for being blessed with an angel's voice." ~Laurie Thompson, Orlando professional jazz singer
"The writing on Me and My Apathy is about as honest as it gets. Robin only helps her cause with beautiful vocals and top quality sound production." ~Dan Gonzalez, Boston singer/songwriter
"I'm in love with this music
The CD arrived just the other day and I had only time to listen to it once by now, but that was enough to convince me that I have found a real treasure. Robin's voice is crystal clear and it reaches the highest pitch without any efforts. When I got to the last song this morning right before work I was just petrified in awe and I simply couldn't get up to reach my tram in time. This beautiful voice had tied me to my chair. I am so glad that I have found this wonderful artist here on CD baby." ~Charlie, www.cdbaby.com customer
