Let the music begin.

About Me

I am a singer/songwriter/pianist in the pop/rock genre...whatever that means. I grew up on Classic Rock and Broadway, and those fuzed together along with my classical training, love for power ballads, key changes, huge, soaring, rich melodies, and sappy, hit you right in the gut "oh my gawd, I can so relate to that" lyrics are what my songs are all about.I started piano lessons at age 6 or 7 and they went right up to my sophomore year of college. (except for a year or so before college when I stopped lessons to fully concentrate on writing music...when low and behold, to be a music major, I had to take 2 years of lessons on piano and accompany for a year after that). I am thankful for my classical training; never hurts to know the theory behind music, and it has stylistically enhanced my songwriting and helped to make it my own. I was not the best student because I was making up my own tunes and wanting to play them at recitals. Playing music as written was not fun enough, I had to embellish and add my own improvizations to it. Mozart, alone, just didn't cut it for me.I was in chorus all through middle and high school and when I realized I could hold a note, I became serious about performing, not just doing songwriting. I graduated from Florida State University, with a degree in Commerical Music and Business, in May 2004. I currently live in Durham, NC and play at fun venues around town.Created with mySpace Profile Editor
