Influences: The Sun, the Moon, the wind in the pine trees, all sentient beings....................Traditional japanese music is a tender and poetic art, encompassing various styles. The courtly music of the koto, played for entertainment, and buddhist meditational music of the shakuhachi, originally played in temples, come together to form „Sankyoku“. The Shingetsu Ensemble, based in Frankfurt, Germany, has been performing this classical music throughout Europe for more than 10 years....................................Miyoko Oshima comes from Tokyo, studied the Koto under Oomori Sensei of the Ikuta school as a child, and received her „Natori“ - the traditional teaching degree - at age 28. She lives in Germany and sings classical „Nagauta“ and plays „Sankyoku“ repertoire in concerts and at cultural events throughout Europe................................Tony Clark studied shakuhachi at Florida State University with Dr. Dale Olsen ( Bai-o ), and with Yoshikazu Iwamoto, of the Yokoyama/Watazumi lineage. Tony has performed throughout Europe, playing „Sankyoku“ and „Honkyoku“. Tony also plays contemporary music ( most recently at the März Musik Festival of the Berliner Festspiele, performing works of Takahashi, Utz and Schleyermacher with the ensemble online, Vienna), and performs in the field of world music / fusion with the Michio Flamenco Project, Fayoum Blue, Achala,and others.
