Mark Jason de la Cruz is a pianist/arranger/teacher. He graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a B.A. in Honors History. He also graduated from UofT with a Bachelor of Education. Now, you would think that with two degrees, one might start working already... Not him, Mark is back for more expanding of the mind and strengthening of his musical talents at Humber College.
One thing is for sure, this guy values knowledge and experience. So now, Mark is studying one other topic that he loves, while playing his heart out every day. Some of the Toronto greats that Mark has studied under are Ruben Vasquez, Hilario Duran, Luis Mario Ochoa and at the moment, David Virelles.
Generally, Mark is into all kinds of music, but there is one that he is fond of more than the others, that's of the Latin sort. When he speaks through his keys you can feel the heat.
Right now, Mark is playing with a few groups around the city and is currently involved in a brand new salsa project, La Mezcla - para los salseros. Stay Tuned for upcoming events.
