About Me

Saxophonist/flautist Allison Au has a Bachelor of Music is Jazz studies from Humber College. While at Humber, she studied with Pat LaBarbera, Hilario Duran, John McLeod, Andy Ballantyne, Kelly Jefferson, Luis Mario Ochoa and Kirk MacDonald. She is the recipient of the Duke Ellington Scholarship for Outstanding Achievement and the Ron Collier Memorial Scholarship for Outstanding Achievement in Arranging.

In 2007, she was awarded a scholarship to attend the Nice Jazz Festival in Nice, France. On her return, she was commissioned to write an original work which was formally premiered at the School of Creative and Performing Arts Awards Ceremony.
Allison has played with Luis Mario Ochoa’s Cimarron, Hilario Duran's Havana Remembered, El Mosaico, Vanderpark, Afrodisiac, The Spandex Effect, Babes in Jazzland, La Mezcla, Heavy Mambo, The Lansdowne Saxophone Quartet, and The Thing Is.
She has also performed in the pit orchestras for POGO's production of The Wizard of Oz and Watersedge production of Bare: The Musical.
Allison currently lives in Toronto where she divides her time as a freelance performer and composer/arranger
