About Me

"Judy Valencerina shouts out from the small plains of Oxnard, California. After classical piano training from the age of 5 through high school, she finally found "home" when she sat down and wrote the music herself. She hid behind a piano through different jazz combos, and eventually learned something was missing: her own voice. While her playing style is influenced by jazz, Judy's songwriting and voice have a simple and honest pop feel. She performs solo on vocals and keys, and more recently as a trio with Mel Flores on drums and Nick Rosen on bass. Her debut album entitled "Halfway" is due out end of SUMMER 2008."
Hey folks. You've arrived at my little music spot. Thanks for hangin! If you have any questions or would like to book me for a show.. then just message me! I have a 9-to-5 as a web & graphic designer, while my passion of course is in my songwriting and performing. You can usually find me at The Experimental Cafe in downtown Oxnard. It's pretty much my second home. I also do the booking for Wide Open Wednesday , and I'm one of the hosts for the podcast radio show " Songs From a Window ."

"Jaws drop when Judy launches into her set of original compositions ranging from steaming jazz to haunting ballads to catchy pop tunes. This budding songwriter is as much a wordsmith and melody maker as she is a technically skilled jazz pianist and composer. She crosses over from jazz into other genres by creating accessible and memorable melodies, staging dramatic performances and not to mention, her voice will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up." - from Blackbird Promotions.
"...The truth is, Judy Valencerina is passionate and sincere. Her passion is very pure and genuine. Her music is well thought out and dare I say “pretty.” To do music any other way is just “bar-band-lame.” When you go to one of Judy’s shows you are going to have an authentic experience where if you take time to breathe every once in a while…you just might find yourself captivated by her song. “Wired to Be” is a great example for what I am selling here, but I offer this…Judy is programmed to sing and this gift will make us all believe that “it’s going to be alright.” I have to report to anyone and everyone that Judy Valencerina surpassed my expectations on this cold night in the Heart of Downtown Oxnard at The Experi-mental Café. She brought warmth to people and a community that truly appreciate and support it!" - from Pete Boloukos, former owner/manager of The Experimental Cafe.
