Dear Listener, Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Marcela and I'm a singer, a songwriter, and a pianist. I was born in the year of the monkey at the hour of the monkey to South American parents in the fabulous city of Hollywood, CA.I've played the piano for 25 years. 14 of those years were spent studying the classical side of music in hopes of becoming a concert pianist. I whole-heartedly abandoned that life at the age of 17 for the freedom of composition...just like everybody else.I've been singing my entire life. Seriously. Just ask the staff at my Lutheran Pre-School who shot down my talent show audition piece of "Sweet Dreams" by the Eurythmics because God just wouldn't approve. I've received no vocal training whatsoever...this makes for beautiful criticism. When I started out as a singer/songwriter, I used the stage name "The Detachable Pianist". After 11 years and on the advice of my best friend, I decided to stop hiding and detach myself from said stage name.I've been in the studio for 8 years now. In 1999 I recorded an album that some of you own. I myself just received my copy 4 years ago. It's quaint, raw, and definitely a collector's item.I'm in the process of recording a 5-song E.P. You are probably currently listening to some of the pre-production demos of that E.P. on this page. Spooky, huh?I often collaborate with talented friends. The first being Eli Ryder. He is an immensely talented songwriter and when we hit the stage, time has been known to stop. The rest you can find amongst my top friends. I ask you to support them as you support me. Life has placed me amongst talented artists and musicians who rely on you as much as they rely on themselves.I'll leave you with this:If you're a former lover...I've probably written songs about you.
If you're a current lover...I'm probably writing a song about you right now.
If you've been in my life as either a friend, an enemy, a stranger, or a customer...chances are there will be songs written about you.My songs are about my life and the contributing factors there-in. They shield me from the world that has so often left me behind. I find solace in them and I hope that you will, too.Thank you for stopping by. Come back anytime. And always remember to say "Hello".Sincerely yours,
Cela Marcela Carmona - Piece of My Heart (Live at Tangier)
