About Me

I won't spam your comment board with canned "Thanks for the add" graphics. I don't flood bulletins with upcoming shows (but I do pimp my random weirdness.) I am also not about the "Holier Than Thou" attitude that the LA goth/industrial scene is so wrapped up in. I prefer dealing with down to earth individuals. I absolutely loathe elitists of any scene. So get over yourself and drop that facade.
Anyway, my music project used to go under the name November - which to the untrained ear was supposed to be goth-EBM type music. I approached the project with a question: If Bauhaus, Skinny Puppy and Joy Division had a hot monkey threesome, how would that sound? At the time I thought I was successful but I think I'm biased. In hindsight, I took the music too seriously. I overemphasized the (for a lack of better term) "dark & brooding" music that it sounded pretentious and blah. Then again, I never considered myself a musician. I was just somebody who programs notes and drums. My voice wasn't all that so I distorted it.
I tinkered with more music ideas as the years passed by but nothing definite came out. I bought better instruments and spent a great deal of time learning them and so goes the seeds for the CD, "Catharsis."
I wanted a total reinvention but not a total escape from the inbred music of November so for starters, I changed the name. Interstitial was the best fit of all the names I considered. I aimed for more instrumentals, less pretention and less singing. One week I went on an mp3 binge. I downloaded a bunch of Beatles, Star Wars, Classical, Weird Al, Old School Hip Hop, Punk, Alternative, Techno and Video Game music. Now instead of the JD, SP and Bauhaus threesome, I now combined what I absorbed from those mp3s and see what comes out. The result? Pure unadulterated crap. So I went back to the drawing board, redid several tracks, killed off other ones and the end result is the music that is featured here. The Free CDs were distributed mostly via mail during a sporadic giveaway in 2004-2005.
Catharsis 2 is a partial revisit to my old dark & brooding musical roots. A trilogy of songs (3 Smiling Faces, Desire Avenue & Foreshadowing) were revamped November tracks. It is also a progression from where Catharsis 1 left off as the instrumentals got a tad more complex. However, the tradition continues with the complimentary cover track. This time around it is Joy Division's "Dead Souls" that get the butcher's knife.
So goes this music project's ongoing tale. It will probably never amount to anything but it's good to have a hobby. I'm not trying to become a rockstar or get signed with some label.. I just wanna get my "expressions" out there.
