I'm a 30 year old artist who moved to NYC with a promise of more excitement, great friends, and really just being bored in Washington, DC. Through a friend's polaroid camera hanging on his wall, I began taking pictures in the east village in nyc and a LOT has happened as a result. My marketing/PR team would kill me if I didn't put my bio in this space, so here goes:Jeremy Kost has developed a unique approach to celebrity portrait photography - with his Polaroid camera, quickly earning the reputation of the new *anti-paparazzi*. Influenced by Warhol's New York, he found inspiration in the eclectic and gritty characters and sites of New York's famed underground East Village and Lower East Side. Kost was touched by the energy and honesty of these shots and found he could translate their character and integrity to his work with celebrities and the New York fashion elite, who have gravitated to his aesthetic.He doesn't hound them on the red carpet, nor does he sneak outside their hotel rooms. He captures these stars in their own relaxed enviornment, being who they are naturally. He finds beauty in their reality. He looks for truth in natural light even when it is exposing. Caution and artificiality do not exist in his work. He does not rely on lighting, make-up or styling, but rather plays with the moment to create magnificence in a hedonistic smile or true exhaustion, whatever life and his subject give him.While everyone else is riding the digital wave, Kost creates art with his big Polaroid camera. There is a warmth and depth that cannot be translated into digital photography, instantly capturing a moment with depth and quality that digital photography cannot achieve.Kost has developed quite a catalog of celebrity images, which he has trademarked as ROIDRAGE by Jeremy Kost, and has exhibited at the W Hotel in San Francisco as well as having launched a regular column for Elle Accessories magazine. More projects are in the works, including a consumer directed and artistically driven site (ROIDRAGE.COM) which will present celebrity content in a whole new light.
