Hunter S. Thompson Festival

While there are no confirmed dates at this point, the Gonzo crew are working hard to meet the date of the Doctor’s birthday of next year. Thompson enthusiasts are likely to come from many all places of the world, but each share a similar premise that “if something is worth doing, it’s worth doing right.” We have had a number of suggestions for location in this short time already, one including a massive hundred acre plus farm in the Ozark Mountains – I tip my hat off to a certain Doctor Caveman.There have been plans of a live music spectacle to keep the party raging into the wee hours of the morning (or all weekend if it need be), and negotiations are being made about the screening of some Thompson related film material. I think it also goes without saying that there will be many different types of toys to light the sky in celebration of our hero, as well as all the drunken misbehaviour that’s only expected when a group of Gonzo fans meet with fine drink and fresh air in the beautiful countryside. Granted, the festival is only in its infant stages now, but the response so far has been unbelievable.We have people working without pay trying to round up as many UCLA cheerleaders we can get to attend and provide what should be a very nice backdrop to what should be a truly momentous occasion. Discussions are taking place regarding specific sponsoring to take the weight off of you, as an attendee, and we are in search of some of the Doctor’s old high profile friends to lend a hand for the festival also.This is an exciting time for any avid Hunter S. Thompson reader, and on behalf of the Gonzo crew we would very much love for you be a part of this, the first in history, social gathering and homage to a hero that has touched the lives of many.Be sure to check back for updates, as new ideas and possibilities are dawning on us with every new day!
