The origins of Cruciamentum are unimportant, sufficed to say that the band has been in existence since 2005 under various different monikers and playing slightly different forms of death metal. Eventually in 2007 the band decided upon the name Cruciamentum (meaning torture/torment in Latin) as a suitable and apt name under which to perform and release their brand of blackened death metal.
The band, disillusioned by most modern death metal, set out to create a band that would combine the darkness and dynamics of old school death metal, whilst keeping some of the blasting intensity of more modern bands, without sacrificing songs for a needless show of technical ability and sterile production. Cruciamentum’s attitude is one of pure metal elitism, believing that death metal should be for underground death metal people only, and not for poseur trendies trying to look cool.
The manifesto of the band is as aforementioned of total elitism, standing against feeble-minded religions, conformists, and trend poseurs whilst exalting darkness, grimness, and individuality in a scene now over-run with clones.
Cruciamentum are currently hard at work writing and rehearsing for a full-length album, which will then be followed by a split 7†with our death metal brothers in Diamanthian, and a split CD with Canadian black/death outfit Mitochondrion. Currently without a bassist, the band is looking for suitable people to try out. Anyone interested should either contact the band here or send an email to cruciamentumDOTukATgooglemailDOMcom
