"Hope Begins With Family"

About Me

THIS PAGE IS NEW AND IS CURRENTLY UNDER CONSTRUCTION Help us find a cure! The Silent Majority Breast Cancer Foundation
In loving memory of Lovenia A. Lee - Cooper
“Hope Begins with Family”My mother was EVERY-woman. She was a daughter, a sister, and a wife; mother of six and grandmother to three. She was a woman of the world. My mother had a kindness like no other. It was this unconditional kindness to one and all, friends or strangers that made her so special and even at her lowest times; she made everyone around her smile. Her passion to help find a cure by allowing herself to be a vessel for research was the most unselfish gift imaginable. Lovenia Lee-Cooper wanted to find a cure while she was here on this earth and … I intend to carry on where she left off.
Through the Silent Majority Breast Cancer Foundation we aim to make a difference. We intend to increase awareness for early prevention and detection programs, while continuing the research to provide clinically effective, cost efficient solutions and services for the management of cancer. We plan to provide funding to care facilities that will not only support those patients with terminal cancer, but their loved ones who are also fighting this disease. We aim to build Cancer Care Facilities lovingly and aptly named The Lovenia Lee-Cooper Cancer Care Retreat Centers around the world that will enable cancer patients and their loved ones to fully enjoy their surroundings, and improve their quality of living as we continue search for a cure.
The true fight for me began 5 years ago when this EVERY-woman, my hero and biggest fan, my mother Lovenia passed from this silent killer. For days I sat with her, talking to her and trying to make her time here on earth more comfortable and at the same time trying to be strong and bring the family together. When that moment came, her breathing started to get heavy ... I touched her face and told her “It’s ok, God is waiting for you and I will take care of everyone as you watch over all of us … and I will do everything I can to help find a cure”. Her breathing instantly lowered; she looked at me as though the pain had left her. That was the most peace I’d seen in her eyes in weeks. I could hear her say to me, as she always would whenever we spoke, “I am so proud of you Monica.” She then passed on. At that point I realized that my mother raised a very strong woman: even stronger than I ever thought I was. I began to search within myself to find ways to keep that fight going in my mothers honor and decided to go with what I know best. I decided to incorporate my love of the film and television industry, using that media to be heard and champion my cause! The SMBCF will be facilitated through the events planned along with Make It Happen Entertainment. Our upcoming events such as The Caribbean International Film Festival & Celebrity Tournament in Barbados, The Wine and Jazz New Orleans Benefit and The Comedy For A Cause Showcase headlined by Katt Williams in The Bahamas are just the beginning of our efforts.
The stark REALITY of breast cancer, however, is that statistics are more than just numbers; they are individuals, families and communities that are affected by this disease. Every diagnosis is a human story. But with your help, we can turn the page on a new chapter of more happy endings. Help us find a cure. Monica
