Music of course, mainstream and indie. And reading about the music industry, from musician bios, to industry buzz. I am founder and editor of an online music magazine, Toonage. Check out our profile on MySpace, www.myspace.com/toonagemagazine. In addition to Toonage.ca, I am also a freelance writer.
I've done both paid & volunteer gigs in the local music industry, from PR to booking, event planning to working merch table. I'm a very strong supporter of independent music.

You scored as Lt. Kara Thrace (Starbuck). You are the best damn Viper pilot in the fleet, so everyone else can just frack off. They need you, not the other way around. Maybe if you keep pushing people away they won't get close, because that is scary and it hurts. Oh yes, and anyone who has a problem with you being a woman needs to just get over it.

I listen to almost everything and anything!Absolute favourite band is U2. Other favourites worthy of a mention are John Mayer, Incubus, We Are Scientists, and The Beatles. Can you say eclectic?!? There are hundreds more that I listen to, just not going to list them all!Love guitars, but don't play one - yet!Love Canadian music, especially Hawksley Workman, David Usher, Kathleen Edwards, & Sam Roberts.Total concert junkie!A bit of a radio geek. Sirius 95 - The Iceberg is the best spot for lots and lots of Canadian tunes! Big fan of BBC6 out of the UK. Great station, great tunes ... and lots of Canadian content!!! Also adore Live 105 in San Fran and Alt Nation Sirius 21.Indie music absolutely rawks! Canada has much to offer when it comes to independent artists, so go out and see one today!!! Some bands/artists to check out are Shauna Major, Tenth Planet, Anti-Hero and Ripped. See my Friends List to connect with their profiles. And that's why Alanis Morissette has always been one of my heroes!
I love mainstream and indie film. One of my favourite times of year in T.O. is September ... Film Fest!!!Favourite movie is Almost Famous. Reminds me of people I met in my younger days ... I AM A GOLDEN GOD!Garden State is tied with Almost Famous as my favourite movie. This is the definitive film of my generation, with a killer soundtrack that after listening to it, in Natalie Portman as Sam in GS's words, "It will change your life". Zach Braff is not only a brilliant actor, everything he does is magic (to paraphrase The Police).Been a long time Kevin Smith fan, especially Chasing Amy and Clerks. Those New Jersey boys really know how to make a film (see blurb on Braff above). One of my most prized possessions is my Clerks/Chasing Amy scriptbook that KS himself signed back in '99.Documentaries rock, especially music documentaries. Must sees include Ben Harper's "Pleasure and Pain" and Metallica's "Some Kind of Monster".Other faves include Sideways, Closer, Crash, Pride & Prejudice, Bend it Like Beckham, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
Your 80s Heartthrob Is
Michael J. Fox
Who's Your 80's Heartthrob?Yes, I do watch lots of TV, especially in the winter months.I have a bit of a TV addiction at the moment ... me, "ms anti-sci-fi" her entire life, got hooked on Battlestar Galactica.Which leads me to my next addicition ... Heroes. Kinda like X Men once a week! It just keeps getting better and better! It's almost Jack Bauer time again - 24 returns in January! So if I don't answer the phone on a Monday night, you know why ...Lost is one of my other addictions. Can't believe I have to wait until February 2007 for more!Adore Vinnie Chase and his boys on Entourage - makes for a half hour of pure entertainment and top notch insults once a week!Still hoping season three of Veronica Mars turns around soon - it's been a snore so far ... such a disappointment after 2 awesome seasons! It's almost time for the return of Uncle Tony Soprano ... so we can say our final goodbyes!Very sad that Six Feet Under and Queer as Folk are now finito. Although the Fishers and the boys of Liberty Ave will live forever on DVD.Scrubs has to be my favourite comedy. Probably the most brilliant ensemble cast in comedy today. You can't get much better than this team!I love Charmed ... and I have since the first episode. Nothing rocks like chicks with magical powers! Although the final season kind of fizzled.Family Guy is brilliant (click click bloody click pans). Also into Weeds, CSI, & Firefly.Affinity for Brit TV, including My Family, Are You Being Served & Keeping Up Appearances.MI-5 has to be some of the best TV around right now ... kind of like a British version of 24, with cool accents!
I read about a book a week. Currently reading Chuck Klosterman's latest "A Decade of Curious People and Dangerous Ideas".If you haven't read it yet, check out Joseph Boyden's "Three Day Road" ... talk about some brilliant Can Lit! If you want to check out some other CanLit, some necessary reading is Katrina Onstad's "How Happy to Be" - the tale of a media whore! Douglas Coupland's "EleanorRigby" is a fave. And Will Ferguson's "Happiness" is one of the most brilliant books ever written - period.Chuck Klosterman's "Fargo Rock City" is a must read, along with "Sex Drugs and Cocoa Puffs" and "Killing Yourself to Live"."The Historian" by Diana Kostova is pure genius - kind of DaVinci Code meets Interview With the Vampire. Very intriguing!!!"Possession" by A.S. Byatt is a must read. If you've seen the movie, please do not hold it against the book. It really is a worthwhile read."The DaVinci Code" and "Angels and Demons" were brilliant, as was "The Lovely Bones". "The Devil Wears Prada" is one I highly recommend, especially for anyone who's worked in any area of the media industry.I read a lot of Shakespeare and other playwrights from his era.The occasional non-fiction book is always good - "Reading Lolita in Tehran" is one that I quite enjoyed.Musician bios are another fave - everyone should read "Heavier Than Heaven", a biography of Kurt Cobain, and "Dream Brother", about Jeff Buckley, and his father, Tim.
John Lennon. 26 years later and his message could not be more relevant.Bono.Zach Braff for being brilliant ... thank you for Garden State!Kevin Smith for inspiring a generation that they can make a living doing what they love.Cameron Crowe ... for creating the stories that have defined every moment of my life.
