About Me

New Page 1

Lareau is a band that has explored original sound from inception, evolving as it invented an individualistic musical motif. The goal, right from the outset, was to create solid song structure that would hold up on the concert stage.Based in the Jamestown area of Western New York, and the Warren area of Pennsylvania, Lareau (pronounced La Row), is stylistically reminiscent of acts like Ben Folds Five, The Dave Matthews Band, Three Doors Down and Ben Harper. Lareau’s debut CD, "Changes" , is on Los Angeles based indie, Warrior Records, distributed via Universal Music Group Distribution.Originally from Kentucky, Larry Lareau, the youngest of five boys, has been playing piano since age seven, cello since age 10, and sang opera professionally. Upon his family relocating to the northeast, he played in a myriad of bands, and was influenced heavily the Beatles, Moody Blues, Elton John, and Billy Joel. He wrote over 200 songs, meeting drummer Darrin Payne at a session. With only one solo demo to his credit, Reasons Why, which he promoted by touring Germany for three weeks, he tossed around the idea of forming a band with Payne, a classically-trained pianist who just loved bangin’ on drums. Payne’s influences include Rush, Styx and Dream Theater. Guitarist Pete Gool’s influences include David Bowie, Soft Cell, Depeche Mode, guitarist Steve Stevens, U2, Adrian Belew and Van Halen.Bassist Tim Reed and keyboardist Anthony Brown round out the group, which enabled Lareau to flesh out his universally appealing keyboard-based ballads and energetic rock tunes in a way he couldn’t do on his own. The unique spin that LAREAU has comes from the members’ vast array of musical experiences and current musical tastes.Download all of Lareau’s songs on iTunes or order your CD copy of LAREAU’s Debut "Changes" at

WherehouseWhat Amazon.com Shoppers Have To Say About LAREAU’s Debut "Changes":Yeah, Baby! That’s the way poppa likes it. Go baby, GO! Just got my copy of "CHANGES" by Lareau and boy did they make a whopper of a mistake on this one. They should have called it "CHARGES" because it’s full of high-voltage energy. I waited way too long the last time I bought something with Larry Lareau on it (his debutt album "Reasons Why"). It went out of stock because they made so few of them and I ended up paying three times the original price. I sincerely hope it happens again because I GOT MINE JACK!
As I see it, there are two reasons to get this one, Larry Lareau’s lyrics and Darren Payne’s drums. The guy’s got classical music training AND perfect rhythm, which is crucial during the critical times of my day. Golly-wolly he’s good. I like to crank up the music and watch CNN with the sound turned off. No kddng.Reviewer: Bill Clinton "bill"As the Blues Travelers once said "the hook brings you back". This albumn is constantly in my CD player. Excellent arrangments with thought provoking lyrics and excellent sound.
Something about Larry Lareau’s voice makes you NEED to sing along. This band is a hidden gem. I’m just waiting for arena’s full of people to shout "I should not be drinkin!!". The first song gets its hooks into you right away, making you want to hear every song on the CD. If you love mellow rock ,contemporary rock or EMO, this albumn MUST be part of your collection.Reviewer: Tango BravoCreative, well written songs. I find myself humming some of these very accessible melodies and have to think hard where I heard them. The answer is CHANGES by LAREAU. I highly recommend it!Reviewer: George Fletcher..

Lareau, the band that is gaining national attention due to its honest cool-mountain-stream aesthetic combining an Eagles/Byrds roots-reverence with a Fray/Maroon 5 modernity, is readying for their latest radio release “Change My World” impacting radio on February 18th, 2008.

Lareau completed the recording “Change My World” with producers Darrin Payne and Anthony Brown at All Sound Studios in Warren, PA. Reid Shippen a 3X Grammy Winner was brought in to do the final mix on the cut. Mixes were conducted at Soundstage Studios in Nashville where Shippen has worked with such notables as Jonny Lang, India Arie, Backstreet Boys, and Third Day to name a few. His latest Grammy was presented for Jonny Lang’s “Turn Around” Album.

Lareau’s Changes debut (Warrior/UMGD) has charted on three major Adult Contemporary charts: FMQB (10), Billboard (25) and R&R (25). Chuck Taylor, reviewing for Billboard, wrote of the albums “organic play-off of electric and acoustic guitars, bongos and buoyant sing-along hooks,” referring to lead singer Larry Lareau as a frontman “definitely stamped with nostalgic influences.” The review ended with the fact that “it’s a pleasure to see hard-working talent rise to the surface.”

Lareau—founding member and lead vocalist Larry Lareau, drummer/multi-instrumentalist Darrin Payne, guitarist Pete Gool, bassist Roger Christopherson and keyboardist Anthony Brown—is the five-piece band from Western New York and Pennsylvania whose music is a refreshing and uplifting acoustic/electric trip that has had record buyers swooning to its intricate musical interplay.
