Elec-Trip Records artist Zi Punt, is made up of Oguz Kaplangi, Chi K. and Orange. Zi Punt’s mash of electro and rock is highly characteristic with the sultry female vocals in English. The songs in Zi Punt’s debut album “Nudge Nudge†were written by Chi K., Oguz Kaplangi and Ugurcan Sezen.
Biography:
Oguz Kaplangi, the producer of Zi Punt, Portecho, Istanbul Calling, Electro-Trip, Techno Roman Project, Lava and Deja-Vu’s albums, is also the general manager of Elec-Trip music production company. He continues to give concerts as producer/DJ with Istanbul Calling and Techno Roman Project both in Turkey and abroad.
Chi K., began singing at Bard College before returning to Turkey after 5 years in New York. Chi K. is one of the owners of Elec-Trip music production company and she is the voice behind many of Elec-Trip’s jingles. Her songs appear in Elec-Trip albums as well as international compilation albums.
Orange is the stage name of Istanbul based, New Zealand born musician and video artist Reuben de Lautour. Orange who performs his solo dance/electronic project in Turkey, joined Zi Punt in January 2008. Before locating to Turkey, he studied music at Princeton University and DJed in NewYork and New Jersey. In Istanbul he joined Istanbul Technical University’s MIAM faculty and he teaches music production and engineering, as well as sound and video art. Orange is an associate director of the MIAM recording studios and also works as a freelance music producer.
