Reality is merely what a majority of people agree upon at a given time. Take a hard look at what this is. Much of it is arbitrary. In reaction, I believe we must define reality - morals, values, judgments, choices - by our own terms. It is a fact that most people don't investigate themselves, though the self is the beginning and the end. It is a fact that our civilization has come to value immediacy over consideration, utility over emotion, entertainment over art, and knowing over knowledge. Likewise, expressive passion has come to be seen as ridiculous. Lest you think I view the world in the negative, I do not. But I long for the extremes that were once more visible. Though hidden in corners now, they still shine, and it is an irony that the sadness of this adds to their beauty. They say that all the events in your life contribute to who you are. Joy, sorrow, love and loss are part of the fabric of every living person. To turn those emotions inside out, paint them in different colors and hand them back to society, is the gift of the artist. An artist knows the four corners of the soul, and whether or not he's afraid to visit them is irrelevant because visit them he must. An artist is compelled to share the journey, to tell people what it's like inside his own dark recesses. Those who share this feeling interest me. They are willing to exchange some degree of solitude for sight. Light, I suppose, passes through them a little darkly. Who am I? I would rather tell you who I am trying to become. A philosopher, an artist, a dreamer. I say these things with the hope that they are and will become true. I am creative first, logical second, and too damn serious for my own good.
I'm also a fun, laid back, very outgoing kind of guy. I'm friendly, honest and educated. I tend to be somewhat of the intellectual/witty type. I can find humor in almost every situation. I enjoy hanging out, going to the movies, bonfires on the beach, eating out, having a good time, being with people I care about. I love hanging out with my friends as they are a significant part of my life. I enjoy people for who they are and not for what they pretend to be. Looks attract but personality keeps.
