If life were easy, everyone would have one...

About Me

Short Answer:
Songwriter
Bass Player / Vocals
Recording Studio Owner
Indie Record Label Owner (start-up)
The song on my profile right now is Sixty Eight Seasons - A group of guys I am jamming with called, "Your Love, Your Lust"

I lead a pretty insane and full life. I'm a songwriter, bass player, piano player, musician, studio owner, recording engineer, record label owner; Graphic designer, software application developer, horrible golfer with a u-turn slice; Occasionally lucky fisherman; Lover of Jagermeister and a great beer as well a great bottle of wine; Blessed dad for two amazing, smart and funny boys; Somehow worthy of the love of a wonderful and talented artist who shares her world with me.

My challenges: I am working hard on providing the energy and nurturing support of all of the parts of my life, family, friends and the world in which we live. It's sometimes tough living out loud, but the alternative is unacceptable. :)

IT IS ALWAYS ABOUT THE MUSIC

Where Have I Been?

I have had the good fortune to be able to - and at times be forced to - follow my dreams, touring and performing everywhere from in front of just a lonely bartender in a dive club to tens of thousands under the big lights; both of which sucked and rocked at different times. It is amazing how that works - always surprises you - It is all about what's inside you and how driven you are to express it as a musician regardless of circumstance - not the other way around. One day I'll give subway performing a shot too to see if the theory holds :)

It has been an amazing ride so far once I got off my ass and actually hit the gas! I suggest you do the same right now if you can! Stop bitching about all the things you CAN'T do; Stop blaming it all on excuses; Start being who you want to be NOW. Don't over-prepare, don't spend years thinking about it - DO IT and adjust as you go - THAT is life. No one will stop you (well the stupid people will try to discourage you but it is because they have no soul) - many you know and many more you have yet to know will help you - that is what I found - that is how it all seems to work - messy and chaotic - but after all He has a sense of humor, and Lord knows He would have to - given the hilariousness of my own life at times...

My Interests

I am single minded, focused, and driven. It is simply MUSIC. Creating it, making it, nurturing it, performing it, recording it and writing it. It is who I am and will always be. I don't have a choice - and frankly would choose this even if I did. People in my life understand that and accept it - or they are just people I've met :)

I'd like to meet:

Everyone who has been in my life before, is now, and will be. I don't believe there are strangers in this world, only friends I have yet to meet. I am 43. It took me years to accept I am getting older - but the bottom line is that age is a state of mind, not a count of years. I've been a musician and songwriter all my life, and music is ageless and of no consequence. I welcome anyone as a friend who doesnt have the arrogant, ignorant idea that age is a pre-requisite. I celebrate talent and commitment to one's art - and will support that in my friends. What I will not support is stupidity and ignorance in friend or foe.

Music:

I listen to, write, perform, record and produce in nearly every style with a special weakness for songs that bring an amazing voice, outstanding innovative lyric and well delivered music. Three albums underway right now simultaneously: Blind Crisis' Hot Little Box (Rock), MWR and the Bootlegger's Keep on Diggin' (Country) and Sixty-Eight Seasons (Alternative). I also work with hip hop and rap artists, bluegrass and americana, blues and jazz, classical and avant-garde artists. Good music IS. It is not a single style.Upcoming Events:

Movies:

I'm a Lousy movie date... I usually spend the entire time listening to and reviewing the soundtrack and audio work... so I wait for the DVD so I can mumble about poor orchestration without inflicting punishment on those around me!...or catch it late night on Flix or something :)

Television:

Not into it for more than background noise and an occassional couple minutes to check on a band, race or game. ok - I admit I do have an SG-1 addiction that I am recovering from :)

Books:

When I get a chance to read - and she shares what she is writing ;P my favorite author is of course Traci Lazenby-Elliott then in no particular order, Tolkien, Bradbury, Steinbeck, Faulkner, Joyce, Burns, Emerson, Confucious, Buddha, Gandhi, Mohammad, and Jesus are my authors of choice.

Heroes:

Though I have many mentors and people I have been lucky enough and honored to have in my life, I have one hero - My grandfather. When I was young I thought he gave up on his career and dreams as a musician and artist to get a day job and raise the four of us after they had already raised their family. When I was older, in my arrogance I forgave him for doing so. Now when I realized it was his forgiveness I should ask to receive, for my being such an arrogant fool, he is already gone.... Get it right as quickly as you can. You just never know.My other heroes are those that are dedicated and committed to what they believe in, deal intelligently, fairly and bluntly. Those who seek to improve the human condition and are unafraid to stand up and speak out, to stand their ground. I admire passion and don't think you can truly succeed in life without it. Bono you are doing an awesome job with yours - we are all strengthened by your example!
