About Me

The Awful Truth

Awful Racket Records is an independent record label headquartered in Asheboro, North Carolina serving independent artists worldwide. We do things a little differently around here. AR Records Artists share equally in all net earnings from recordings, merchandising, appearances, etc. There are no trick clauses, and no musical slavery. We embrace and promote new media and don't treat it like a threat to our extinction as the dinosaurs do. We work side-by-side with our artists and everything we do is transparent. Try and find these benefits in a major label.Just so you know it is not all dreams and fairy tales, any artist we chose to work with must be willing to put shoulder to the wheel for their career. The concept that being signed somehow means you do nothing and sit back on a million dollar tour bus eating green M & Ms, is a crock - and if your band is seeking that in a record company then I respectfully suggest you move on :)If you are looking to sell your soul to get 10 million albums so0ld so you can make 100 large and be owned lock stock and barrel by suits and bean-counters, check out the majors and seek out their deals. If you are looking for an opportunity to be an artist, preserve your style and sound, work hard at your career as a musician and artist, and want a record company that is right there shoulder to shoulder with you - then send us your demo.AR Records is currently accepting demo submissions from artists. Please see our demo submission policy below.

See www.awfulracketrecords.com for the latest artist & contact info.

Demo Submission Policy

If youd like to send us a copy of your bands demo, you can. We dont listen to demos every day, but periodically we go through a bunch of them. Please dont call or email to follow up. If we want to reach you, we will. It is extremely rare that a band gets signed on the strengths of a demo alone so our best advice to you is to keep playing out, build a fan base every day, tour, promote yourself and get your name out there. These are the things that will bring label representatives to your shows and this is what will help you possibly get that record deal. Good luck!

NEW - ONLINE SUBMISSIONS ACCEPTED ONLY- important to read how to do this below

Submit your materials online through SONICBIDS! If you are not yet a Sonicbids member and want to submit online, visit AR RECORDS ON SONICBIDS and sign-up for the Sonicbids Combo Package (includes your submission AND a discounted Sonicbids membership). If you are already a Sonicbids member, log in to your account and visit the Promoter Drop Box to submit. We review EPKs through SonicBids regularly - and are committed to working to respond back as quickly as possible.

Band Members: Start Your Own Awful Street Team

Street teams are groups of fans who really dig their favorite band's music and help promote the band or artist through word-of-mouth, special swag giveaways, organize radio station call-ins and in general scream from the highest hill that their band is coming to town when the tour rides on through. In many cases the success of the street teams will help determine the route each artist tour takes, so it is a great opportunity to not only help your favorite artist, but to help bring them to YOUR town. Contact [email protected] if interested. Include your name, telephone, email, address, age, artist and location for street team, and why you should be a street team leader/member.

The following artists - locations need Street Team Leaders right away. If you don't see your location below you can still join an existing street team, or convince us that your town needs it own unique street team:
