Staffan Lindfors has played the bass in Swedish folk music group ÖSTEN MED RESTEN since 1994. His music career started at age 15 in local punk- and heavy metal bands before he took the step as a professional bass player in several projects within the dance/entertainment/cover genre. Besides ÖSTEN MED RESTEN Staffan works as freelance and has played with many well-known Swedish musicians - at the moment Swedish folk singer SOFIA KARLSSON. He even represents more traditional folk music performed by ELVINGS SPELMANSKAPELL wich also features Staffans wife, singer/bouzoukiplayer ANNA STARK, Leif & Ann Elving fiddle and accordionplayer L-G Johansson. Anna also has her own TRIO where Staffan’s bass shows up in a more jazz-oriented style. Staffan recently started up LINDFORS handmade tube amplifiers.
Lindfors PlexiType are my own handmade tube amps, built in my basement.
The construction is similar to -69 Marshall bass/lead plexi heads.
A few safety and convenience modifications are added to the original such as more and relocated fuses, Screen resistors and external bias testpoint/adjustment.Point-to-point wired of course, and every single soldering point is carefully done and tested.The transformers are made by Hammond. Preamp and phase inverter are using ecc83 tubes and the power amp uses el34.
I make the cabinet out of 18mm pinewood board wich I assemble using dovetail fingerjoint technique, and then cover it with standard tolex, piping and grillcloth.The PlexiType is availible as head or 2x12 combo.
The combo has grown popular due to its open back solution wich sort of combines the Marshall-drive with the Fender-bright sound. Another good thing is that the control knobs are located in the front (it is an upside-down head) On most combo amps, knob settings are invisible and unreachable to the player on stage because the knobs are located at the top back corner and you often tilt your amp or place it on a case or chair when playing club gigs.A new model launched in early march 2008. The DLX-Type. 1 x 12 combo guitar amp powered by 2 6V6 power tubes. Based on the popular Fender "Tweed De-Luxe" a.k.a 5E3 built in the mid 1950..s. A few minor construction enhancements are added as well as my usual concept of having the controls facing forward.
