Influences: "Grew up being totally marinated in the Beatles.
Loved JS Bach as previously mentioned, especially the church organ works.
Cembalo music in general.
First record bought with my own money: Kiss Alive.
Then AC/DC.
I liked African drumming records, flamenco and gamelan music long before the term "World music" was even invented.
Contemporary classical music: György Ligeti, John Cage.
Old blues recordings were the spark that got my own writing going.
Huge fan of the Black Crowes, Black Sabbath and Led Zep in the 1990's.
Music that is active in the computer nowadays:
Meshuggah - Catch Thirtythree. About ten Black Sabbath songs. North Missisippi Allstars. Jimmy Ã…gren. The Soundtrack of our lives. The Hellacopters. Cathedral. LL Cool J - Mama said knock you out.
I cannot stand pop music. Most of the crap I hear on the radio makes me physically sick, except Christina Aguillera who I think is a genious. I think I like the Datsuns, that will probably be the next record I buy."..
Sounds Like: "Most people say I remind them of PJ Harvey, Emmylou Harris, Alanis Morrisette, or Sheryl Crow. But usually they add that my music doesn't really sound like anything else they have heard. The recordings are pretty raw, the arrangements are sparse, and sometimes there is a strange country flavour to it all that I haven't a clue where it comes from, since I never heard a country record in my entire life. Must be a previous life. I never wanted the arrangements to be stripped down, I always wanted a full machinery like the Black Crowes. But usually the simple recordings were the ones that worked best. I also never planned to be some kind of acoustic singer-songwriter person. Acoustic guitar is great for recording, but sounds like crap on stage."
