Jonas Knutsson

Soprano, alto, baritone, sopranino saxophonist and composer. Born in Umeå, 1965.Began in 1980 with the jazz rock group Cabazz and has since worked with a number of different groups, artists and projects within jazz, fusion and folk music.Some examples are: Mynta, Elise Einarsdotter Ensemble, Encore, Enteli, Nordan, Jonas Knutsson Band, Triptyk, Stockholm Folk Big Band, Världsorkestern, Bertrand Renaudin´s Larbre Voyage (France) and Berger Knutsson Spering.In recent years, he has worked on educational projects, such as the sequence "Fanfar"(Fanfare), composed for music and culture students with a cast of 20 saxophones and 10 percussionists.Has also done some commission work. The latest being "Almost Music" for the chamber orchestra in Sundsvall, which was first performed in January, 2003.Jonas is organiser, composer and arranger for the group Horn Please and Jonas Knutsson Quartet. He is also in a new project "Annanya" were musicians from Sweden and Bengali meet. His latest CD productions are; "Horn Please" on Country & Eastern, "Cow Cow" on ACT together with guitarist Johan Norberg and "Himlen har inga hål" on Paraphon together with swedish poet Thomas Tidholm.
