I don't just hike a mountain, I attack it. My reward is the summit. If I dawdle, I have less time to enjoy my time on the peak. There is nothing more spectacular than the view from the top of a 14er. I take off my pack, eat my lunch and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature in all it's glory. I can see for miles and miles.
