Concept6 began as an idea that there is more to life than what the human
five senses can experience. Singer/songwriter Kai-Ping Liu desired to express
this idea through thought provoking songs that were lyrically stimulating and musically accessible. After deciding to further hone his skills at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, he met fellow Californians Matt Overby and Drew Allsbrook, who skillfully filled in the rhythm section with a tight and funky sound. In Boston, the trio recorded their self-titled EP with producer Barry Marshall. There, they secured generous CD sales, radio play, and several high profile shows such as New Hampshires 3-day SoulFest 2004. But, at the end of 2004, the band decided that the eclectic LA music scene would be the most suitable for their neo-pop acoustic-fusion style. After moving to LA, they met violin player Hiro Goto, a seasoned session
musician who joined in 05. Hiro has done string arrangements for Bad Religion and U2, as well as playing sessions and working as a producer. Late in 2006 Concept 6 Decided to add a new singer in to the mix and found an R&B superstar who had desires to become a Rock Star, Eric Erickson took the role as lead vocalist for Concept 6, formally of ChristStar a underground Hip Hop Soul duet, and so the life of the new Concept 6 Begins. The Band now performs in Orange and LA county. Here's a list of some of the places we've played:The Blue Cafe, Long Beach, CAThe Blue Cafe, Huntington Beach, CAThe Good Hurt, Venice, CAThe Cat Club, Hollywood, CARoom 5, Los Angeles, CAGenghis Cohen, Los Angeles, CAMcClain¹s, Fullerton, CAPlush Cafe, Fullerton, CAThe Coffee Depot, Riverside, CAPolygon Cafe, Anaheim, CAThe Crest Theatre (W/Grammy Nominated Jennifer Knapp) Sacramento, CASoulFest 2004, Lincoln, NHThe Middle East, Cambridge, MATT the Bears, Cambridge, MAHarper¹s Ferry, Boston, MA
