da do, run run run, da do, run run!

About Me

and when you're in a mess and you feel like crying
just remember this a-little song of mine
and as you go through life tryin' to reach your goal ohohwhoa
just remember what i said about a little bit o'soul

My Interests

music, music, music, records, airchecks, guitars, playing keyboards with one hand, Noise Choir, Mouth Karate, Blackhamptons, sometimes the Hamburger Hobos, jamming with anyone else who is down for it, 1963-64 pop singles, karaoke, shows at houses, old things, the second half of the 20th century and all that remains of it, reelradio.com , comfort food, chocolate, coffee, chillin' on the front porch, cloud formations, sunsets, cheap beer, whiskey, smoking, getting over-excited, kitty cats, making out, cuddling, sleep, afternoon naps, love, good friends, good times and great oldies

I'd like to meet:

nice people, my great aunt katherine (i hope to have martinis and cigarettes with you on the other side), the saroos, people who'll let me go on road trips with them, anyone who is up for mix CD trading, people who don't erase the blurry ones off their digital cameras, everyone who stands up front at shows and dances, old school top 40 radio nerds, creative cats, all the legendary rock and soul performers from back in the day that are still out there doing it, dollar LPs and 25 cent 45's.
and more of these girls...

damn, i want a maid-rite! mmmmm. :)

nothing in the world calms me down quite like the sound of her voice.

RIP, Hawthorne. i never met you, but we did exchange emails once or twice and you were still as hilarious (and keen!) as ever.

Music:

might kill me but i wouldn't mind.

most of what i like is from 1955 to 1972. i like stuff before and after that, but most of it happened then. i like music that's got soul and passion. alternatively, i also like some cheezy stuff cause it makes me laugh. there's no need to list bands or genres. there's way too much of it.

Movies:

i don't like gory ones.
i really should go see a movie. i have all these free passes to the movie theater, and the last time i went was to see persopolis and that was like back in february...
i do like the first two beatles movies, and i love the commentary on the DVD of This is Spinal Tap. mostly i like comedies, or anything light. i have a hard time keeping myself interested in movies though. especially if they're over 90 minutes.
anyway, i have more fun watching MST3K episodes on youtube. there's more of them there than there are on DVD.

Television:

i think i gave it up for lent a decade or so ago and never picked it back up, but the old stuff i remember...
that gives me chills.

since i don't have cable, i hear my tv isn't gonna work starting in february anyway so fuck it...

Books:

The Beatles Anthology, Soulsville U.S.A., Positively 4th Street, The Heart of Rock & Soul, The Billboard Book of Hot 100 Hits, any decent record price guide. I'd like to read Rockin' America, Thinkin' Out Loud or And The Hits Just Keep On Comin', but I haven't been bothered to find them

Heroes:

and you.
