My goal is to educate people about HIV, to spread awareness, and to encourage people to know their status and get tested. HIV is not a disease contolled by race, sex, age, or sexual orientation.************************************************ **********HIV can attack anybody. It doesn't care how old you are, or what color you are, or whether you are gay or straight, a drug abuser or not, a fast food employee or a professor! HIV and AIDS isn't just in Africa. It is a prevelant issue in the United States as well. In 2005, HIV infection is the fifth leading cause of death for people 25-44 in the United States. It is the leading cause of death for African-American men ages 35-44.****************************************************** ****Here is my story: I am a 23 year old white female that was born HIV positive. I never had unprotected sex or shot up IV drugs. My biological parents were heroin junkies and died of AIDS related complications when I was a teen. My two brothers and I were born positive. Life is what you make of it. Nobody deserves to be infected. Sometimes bad things happen, but there is hope. You can press on and still accomplish anything.*************************************************** ********If you are newly diagnosed positive know that there is hope. There are people out there that care. There are people out there ready to help you through this. Initially testing positive may seem like a death sentence but there are so many drugs out there to help control HIV.
