...Some quotes from reviews about Victorian Dad...
"Bass, drums, saxophone, two guitars, a ukulele and a mandolin ensure that the sound is rich in colour and texture. The rhythms are complex, catchy and imaginative; the songs are authentic, lyrical and cleverly arranged. The delivery is gutsy and theatrical."

"The Doors 'My wild love' on more acid!"
- London Promoter 2007 -
"With a wailing harmonica, simple drum beats and various guitarists and bass players behind him, Rybka rocks with taut vocals and springing guitars, and whilst a young woman and a bloke in drag strut around ballet style beside him, Dave, who looks to us like the folk equivalent of Johnny Depp, looks serious and intent throughout. Over all, a great set and a man we’ll be keen to check out again."

"...dirty rock & roll...given a newfound lifeblood"

.."More proof that Wigan might well be the centre of musical excellence in the North, Victorian Dad come to entertain us with their superb Screaming Tree’s-esque tunes of both wild sonics and true soul"
- Manchester Music.co.uk 2008 -
"...before you can sew leather patches onto the elbow of your tweed jacket, the set erupts into a powerhouse of guitars and Dave Rybka’s amazing vocals that sit somewhere between Jim Morrison and Josh Homme. The songs are just ready to go"...

Hailing from Wigan, the town that gave you Pie Baps, but now residing in Manchester, David Rybka & The Victorian Dad Band were formed in 2007 by guitar aces David F. Rybka and James G. 'Flames Cufflinks' Wilson to have a jolly good time and take on the world by creating new original music together. With powerhouse Matt McNicholas on drums and formidable bassist Tom Doherty , both of whom have played in bands with Dave for over ten years, Rybka has been playing and writing music since the age of 15 and has played and been to some magical places on his journey, though it would take up way to much of your time to re-write that! Also playing in the band is the ever entertaining great, great Alabaster DePlume on saxophone. Victorian Dad boast some great musicians in its line up!
Victorian Dad were soon joined by Tom Yates on mandolin, harmonica, ukulele and a variety of other unlikely instruments, along with accordion, keyboard and electronics maestro Fran Lydiatt to expand the sound of the band. BANG!!
When he's not busy with famed Manchester blues outfit Ernie's Rhythm Section , Rick Warren can be found playing harmonica with Victorian Dad. Also, long time friend of Dave Rybka Tony Martin is currently playing violin with the band. The band is also occasionally joined by John Louis of excellent fellow Manchester band the Black Velvet Band on spoons, harmonica and kazoo when he is nearby!
Throughout good times and bad times, a relentless passion for interesting new music has developed, and so what can be said?! ... Let the summer come along and burn your ears!! We have a single out soon and an Album after that in September on RIP Records which will be available World Wide and all good record shops. Also DR & VDB would like to welcome IXC Bookings on board whom we hope to have a blossoming relationship with.
Enjoy the music and spread the words...!!!
